I'm sure at least one of these has been tried/made before...

Top left somewhat resembles a real life technique called half-swording.

SuperNovaStar@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 9 pts · 272d

True, but no one would ever put a handle there. At least not jutting out to the side like that.

I think it's been long enough that I forgot I don't like Munchkin, and want to play Munchkin.

DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social · 9 pts · 271d (1 reply)

The classic blunder

Lianodel@ttrpg.network · 6 pts · 271d

Right alongside "Never get involved in a land war in Asia," and "Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line."

Stamau123@lemmy.world · 21 pts · 273d

I think I'm going to steal that middle design for my Numenera campaign

janAkali@lemmy.sdf.org · 13 pts · 273d (1 reply)

> zweihander

Ephera@lemmy.ml · 31 pts · 273d

Fun fact: "Zweihänder" is just German for "two-hand-er". 😅

rompe@feddit.org · 12 pts · 272d (2 replies)

I'd pay to watch the top-right fight.

Witchfire@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 272d

Its like fighting with a giant potato peeler

nova_ad_vitum@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 272d

Bottom left is my favourite. I want two dudes with those weird things to fight .

neuracnu@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 10 pts · 273d (1 reply)

Somebody show this to Trudy & Doug of Oglaf.

Mirshe@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 272d

Swords Comic too, I'm sure they could make one of these work.

JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 273d

Lower center one was a tennis racket in the late 90s iirc.

teft@piefed.social · 9 pts · 272d

I never thought of bullpup swords. Genius Ai. Genius.

LogicalDrivel@sopuli.xyz · 9 pts · 273d (4 replies)

Top left would have really good tip control and thrust-ability.

dragonfucker@lemmy.nz · 17 pts · 273d (2 replies)

That's because it's just a weird spear

LogicalDrivel@sopuli.xyz · 4 pts · 272d

Hmm. You have a good point there.

merc@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 271d

It's a weird spear with a dangerous cutting blade near the wielder. All the danger of a long sword blade for the user, without the ability to use it for cutting or slashing because of the handle.

killingspark@feddit.org · 6 pts · 273d

Yeah it's like halfgrip but you don't need to grab the blade

BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 272d (2 replies)

I love that the hands in the bottom center have too many fingers. 🤌

EffortlessEffluvium@lemmy.zip · 6 pts · 272d (1 reply)

They all have too many fingers!

BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 272d

I hadn’t noticed that! I zoomed in and it’s true! 🤣

funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works · 7 pts · 272d (2 replies)

top right is definitely something you'd see in a stupid 70s sci-fi movie as an alien's traditional duelling weapon.

captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 272d

Reminds me of Michael Jackson's Beat It, where the two gang leaders have one wrist tied together and their switchblades in their other hand.

merc@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 271d

It would make for an interesting duel though. Can you maneuver the cutting part of the blade to somewhere dangerous while your opponent controls their handle?

Rug_Pisser@piefed.zip · 4 pts · 272d

Double handed bastard sword.

fonix232@fedia.io · 3 pts · 273d

Now try reverse grip!

FreddiesLantern@leminal.space · 2 pts · 272d

Bottom left: Empire greatswords vibe/stance.

Naz@sh.itjust.works · -12 pts · 273d (1 reply)

"Sword that is extra long and held in two hands by the grip"

Source: My google fu and prompt-fu are legendary

Agrivar@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 272d

prompt-fu

Congrats, you're part of the problem.
