Well it's Apple TV, so if Silo and Severance are any indication, he could be waiting a while. If it's a comedy or something with only practical effects, it might be less time. The guy who made it (Pluribus) said he wants 4 seasons.

Season 1 feels like a half season, they didn't resolve any of the major themes or plot points...

I.e. it's not a complete story you could publish as a book

I'm okay with the lack of resolution strictly because I trust Vince Gilligan to make a season of setting-the-stage worth the payoff. It also did present and resolve lots of smaller questions and mysteries along the way.
