Sometimes it's the other way around so it evens out

I'm equal parts thankful/horrified that they gave me an office.

Pros: I can play Luanti at work >:) Cons: I have to remember to work :(

Folks in your IT department: "Did you see sammy's new high score?"

Handle checks OUT.

I have to believe there's still work like this out there: Time to chill between tasks and not having over the shoulder supervision.

Meh, it tends to even out with all the nonproductive hours the other half of the time where you do 20min worth of work in 3 hours because the task is not interesting.

Boppel@feddit.org · 19 pts · 184d

no, i'm riding the wave. i can only give 10% or 150%. there are no inbetweens and i hope to even it out.

You actually have to do this if you're not paid well. Seriously. Do not give them everything you have.

If we have to live in a late stage capitalist corporatocracy, then force your employers to live by their own words.

You get what you fuckin pay for.

Rooster326@programming.dev · 8 pts · 183d

Even if you are paid well you should still do this.

You will at some point be expected to crunch and when you do - you best be able to give another 10% to look good enough to keep your head off the block. That isn't happening if you're already giving 100%

If you work 100% effort 100% of the time then you will burn out. That is a fact.

Ever find yourself chilling at work and be like "they pay me too much for this"

Its been a while but the post-covid/pre AI boom was a nice break from the hustle, and people were still more productive than they were previously

MalReynolds@slrpnk.net · 6 pts · 184d

You should. Equal pay for equal work. How much is you boss working, getting paid? Their boss,...

More like knowing my focus will drain my energy and I need that to function outside if work to.

Thankfully, I do have a job where I get paid more when I work harder.

mechanicalant@piefed.zip · 2 pts · 184d

I use a productivity timer to slow me down and remind me to take breaks.
