US ambasador to Poland threatens to withdraw troops and equipmyfrom Poland

Ambassador Rose isn't backing down— he's been fiercely arguing on social media not only with Prime Minister Donald Tusk , but also with a random user on the X website who commented on one of his posts. "Should we take all our soldiers and equipment with us?" Rose asked, responding to a critical post in which a Polish user wrote, among other things, "The Polish nation respects its sovereignty. Go home." Approximately 10,000 American troops are currently stationed in Poland.

So they want to take home their troops which Poland wants anyway so where is the issue?

saltesc@lemmy.world · 26 pts · 225d

They're putting the US in a position where they have to stand down or stand down. It's very confusing for them.

is it common for US politicians to reply to random bait on social media?

It is in 2026

I guess if you serve trump, you have to be dumber than him. Which is an extraordinary achievement in itself!

trollercoaster@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 224d

Either dumber, in order to actually look up to him, or smarter, in order to play him like a fiddle.

The meme administration is so heavy on social media they just can't stand to not respond.

Suriel@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 225d

Quite a big statement, isn't it?

The link would embed better if you used the direct URL rather than the Google redirect.

I mean, the whole point of us having troops there was a deterrent against Russian aggression.

So I guess there is no reason Trump would want to keep them there.

trollercoaster@sh.itjust.works · 9 pts · 224d

With the way things are going, hosting US troops to defend against Russian Aggression soon will be just as good as cutting out the middle man and simply hosting Russian troops.

Has patient number 13 reveived his sedative yet?

Kornblumenratte@feddit.org · 3 pts · 224d

Refering to patients by number is dehumanizing and bad practice. It should be: "Has the maniac in room 4 got his sedation yet?", of course!

(/s, for reasons)

What is an equipmyfrom?

illi@piefed.social · 4 pts · 224d

Based on the text in the body, I'd say it should be "equipment from"

androidul@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 225d

nothing unusual here, clowns arguing on X trashcan

neukenindekeuken@sh.itjust.works · 10 pts · 224d

Is that a threat, or a promise?

AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 224d (1 reply)

When have we ever taken our equipment with us? Seriously. We basically armed the Taliban for a few months when we left Afghanistan. Then they ran out of spare parts and people that knew how to maintain the shit. IIRC, they mostly just scrapped our trash at that point.

Poland at least has the people and experience to keep our shit working.

Ha, good point.
