Do it. They will have to find some ham-fisted legal mechinism to do it and it will further piss off his base.
Dont inturupt your enemy when they are making a mistake

Ok - "something bad about Trump". Now go revoke their exemption, there's billions in taxes to be collected
pelespirit@sh.itjust.works · 31 pts · 192d
Soooooo, this tells me that churches are saying shit against him and this is hurting his base numbers. LMAO.
electric_nan@lemmy.ml · 20 pts · 192d
Quick, make deepfake videos of all the biggest church leaders talking shit about Trump.
Aljernon@lemmy.today · 11 pts · 192d
Conservative Christians were only ever useful idiots to the GOP.

If churches get taxed then they are gonna need representation in the government.
Or have we done away with the "no taxation without representation" thing, too ?
riskable@programming.dev · 24 pts · 192d
Just like businesses get their own representatives, right?
AlexLost@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 192d
They do, it's called a lobbyist and every politician is owned by some business interest or another
LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 192d
"You can't tax companies because that would be like double taxing the people"
Then the companies go on to legally lobby politicians when people have a max donation of 10k, and companies can now pretty much "donate" unlimited amounts.
...is that not double(+) representation with singular taxation?

I’m pretty sure religion is well represented in government hence the tax exemptions.
foodandart@lemmy.zip · -7 pts · 192d
Religion really isn't expressed or represented in the government though.
Trump and the current administration do nothing BUT break the 1st, 2nd,(why is "in God we Trust" on the currency if we're obedient to Him?) 5th, 6th, (Trump's an expert on breaking this one) 7th, 8th,(and HOW!) 9th and 10th (Greenland anyone?) commandments.
The tax exemptions were written to keep religion in it's own lane as when religion enters government, the government then also enters into religion and inevitably it corrupts it, and that was the fear.
Religion isn't the corrupting influence.. politics is.
digitalFatteh@lemmy.ca · 5 pts · 192d
The thing is are they not all have prayer gatherings and laying hands on trump and speaking tongues.
I think what it boils down to is if it’s the wrong religion not their nice one that likes Donald then they’re coming after the tax exempt status.
I wholeheartedly agree religion should stick to its own lane and remain the emotional support for the people that believe in it.
foodandart@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 192d
I doubt that. Trump couldn't get his ass out of bed early enough to show up at any prayer breakfast. They are early morning before government opens for the day. He's probably still asleep, as most nights he's up until the wee hours posting on Truth Social.
He's famously non-religious, and just wears any piety like a cheap costume.
Dude was on TV for years, so he knows how to shuck and jive and play the part for the rubes.

Ask the residents of DC
tgt@programming.dev · 6 pts · 192d
Or the over 3.6 million people in the territories of the US.
Pat_Riot@lemmy.today · 3 pts · 191d
I'm guessing you just woke up from a long nap. The church definitely has representation in the US government.
Sharkticon@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 192d
Now here's a guy that knows nothing about the state of Utah. Or virtually all of the South I guess.
QueenHawlSera@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 180d
Well Puerto Rico pays taxes and they aren't a state.. so I'd say yeah
letsgo2themall@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 191d
They already play politics, so they shouldn't be exempt at all. But he will never do this because for the 1% that might criticize him, the other 99% will keep voting for him because he is "gods chosen leader".
TrickDacy@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 192d
Definitely not fascistic to threaten consequences for speaking badly of the dictator
SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml · 5 pts · 192d
So...churches are not Trump's friend, just something he can USE to get what he wants.
DarkFuture@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 191d
Quick, someone pretend to be a church and insult him. He won't know the difference.
blitzen@lemmy.ca · 5 pts · 192d
It’ll just be something else he can “sell” to people willing to pay.
5715@feddit.org · 4 pts · 192d
How do we make sure churches say something bad about him? /s
Trump's if-then-statements are notoriously untrustworthy. TACO.

This is why I will always respect Queen Donvict tRUMP, the most orangest of child rapists.
