It is good to have friends, is it not, Mr. Garibaldi? Even if maybe only for a little while?

teft@startrek.website · 23 pts · 2y

Now, I go to spread happiness to the rest of the station lemmy. It is a terrible responsibility but I have learned to live with it.

Mr. Garibaldi

I can’t help but hear this in his voice

SkybreakerEngineer@lemmy.world · 18 pts · 2y

Ah, Meestah Garibaldi!

Zink@programming.dev · 33 pts · 2y (3 replies)

I am 100% on board for B5 characters lying in wait to jump out among the trek memes.

MajorHavoc@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Yeah. Can we make this an official tradition?

teft@startrek.website · 12 pts · 2y (1 reply)

I'll do my best to throw one in every now and then.

Zink@programming.dev · 4 pts · 2y

AND SO IT BEGINS

Dee@lemmings.world · 18 pts · 2y

It's from Babylon 5, for anybody coming to the comments and wasn't familiar with what show this is from.

DharmaCurious@startrek.website · 17 pts · 2y (11 replies)

M'star trek peeps, is the show worth watching? I've never seen it, and I've heard mixed reviews.

teft@startrek.website · 28 pts · 2y (2 replies)

100% worth it. With the caveat that the effects aren't good. The story and characters more than make up for it though.

djmarcone@lemm.ee · 4 pts · 2y

The cgi was done on Amigas IIRC

AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

Maya did what it could. The effects were amazing for a TV series at the time.

Oh my god yes. I’m surprised you’re not watching it now. There’s a good amount of 90s camp and cheese, but the bones are very, very solid.

AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 2y

It's widely considered the most contiguous SciFi series out there. The director started with 5 years of scripts and changed very little during production, other than losing the main character between seasons 2 and 3, due to medical complications. I personally consider Bab 5 to be as good, if not better than both Firefly and Farscape.

Y E S

Londo my beloved

M500@lemmy.ml · 11 pts · 2y

In the past year it was released in 4K. As others have said, the effects are not great, but growing up in that era, it felt a little nostalgic.

I was pretty hooked on it for a while. I got kinda burned out on the last season. It’s not that it wasn’t good, I just binged it too hard.

marcos@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 2y (1 reply)

It's cheesy and cheap and often very manichaean. Yet, it's very interesting and got me hooked to an extent that nothing on the Star Trek universe managed to.

teft@startrek.website · 1 pts · 2y

manichaean

I learned a new word today. Thanks!

MajorHavoc@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y

Much of season one is outright bad. The remaining seasons are really good.

quinkin@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 2y (1 reply)

You moon-faced assassin of joy

teft@startrek.website · 12 pts · 2y

Poor Vir. Londo treats him so poorly.

roguetrick@kbin.social · 11 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Post psi corps memes.

djmarcone@lemm.ee · 4 pts · 2y

Psi Corp and techno mage are fantastic creations in that universe.

obinice@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 2y

Gods, Vir!

raffitz@startrek.website · 7 pts · 2y

I'm fed up with your fabrications, Mollari!

jet@hackertalks.com · 7 pts · 2y (1 reply)

With holo decks everything is in universe. This could just be a holodrama.

AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y

Slap a portable holo emitter on Mr. Garibaldi post haste!
