Wild? More like awkward as hell

Whostosay@sh.itjust.works · 12 pts · 206d

It was wild because they didn't all meet on an island for a dinner.

FatVegan@leminal.space · 4 pts · 205d

It looks so fucking awkward. Like a black hole of charisma. Elon keeps asking when the wild party starts, and no one dares to tell him that it started 3 hours ago

Ceruleum@lemmy.wtf · 56 pts · 206d (11 replies)

Kill. them. all.

LemmyKnowsBest@lemmy.world · 23 pts · 206d (9 replies)

Wow. The things we're allowed to say here that would get us permabanned from Reddit 🙀

_Nico198X_@europe.pub · 14 pts · 206d (6 replies)

thank goodness we still have this freedom

LemmyKnowsBest@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 206d (4 replies)

I've said far less awful things on Lemmy that have been deleted by moderators 🤔🤷🏼‍♀️

_Nico198X_@europe.pub · 9 pts · 206d (2 replies)

it will vary based on the mods, but there's no central authority

Magnum@infosec.pub · 2 pts · 205d (1 reply)

Half of that is true for reddit too

EmpathicVagrant@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 205d

Yeah, the half where it depends on the mood of mods as to whether they’ll delete ban or ignore it

innermachine@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 205d

Yea instead of reddit rules it's moderators whims. I've only run into one or 2 Lemmy communities this way though and just leave them when I notice I don't like how the moderators operate 🤷 freedom for posters and freedom for moderators im all for it

EmpathicVagrant@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 205d

For now. A large part of the push for the shitty new tech in everything is to track watch and keep surveillance on every one of us. If you don’t think it follows keystrokes to know what we say on our little anon platform you haven’t paid attention to predictive text evolving.

Cleisthenian@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 205d

It's great!

mic_check_one_two@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 205d

It heavily depends on your instance, fwiw. .world tends to lean closer to Reddit in terms of moderation. And then .ml leans the other direction, and heavily moderates in favor of communism.

I still don't follow how an international paedophile ring can be run openly on gmail and yahoo by a guy who didn't know where the shift key is, or how any punctuation worked.

Ajen@sh.itjust.works · 35 pts · 206d (3 replies)

The same way Epstein was able to get a plea deal that gave him immunity to federal charges back in 2006. Everyone involved is extremely well-connected.

kutt@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 205d (2 replies)

Didn’t he get it by snitching on some obscure corruption/money laundering story?

Ajen@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 205d (1 reply)

Source?

Dicska@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 205d

BUT they want you to provide a photo ID, provide access to your location 24/7, and let them read your thoughts because they want to keep homeland security tight.

But a wide open pedo ring mail chain somehow eludes them.

It does look like the stereotypical meeting of evil persons in movies.

"Wrong day Elon, the wild party was yesterday."

LemmyKnowsBest@lemmy.world · 23 pts · 206d (2 replies)

They all look a bit tense and uptight.

Not really "wild" though.

SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 205d (1 reply)

Elon read the email wrong and got the wrong day.

PowerCrazy@lemmy.ml · 22 pts · 206d (8 replies)

The dinner looks pretty mundane to me. I get it, a well-connected socialite arranged a dinner with some high-profile tech-bros, but so what? Seems like a bunch of Capitalists, doing capitalism.

It's even more innocuous, this seems to be a social dinner with spouses etc. Basically the kind of thing that happens eery week in NYC or SF.

drmoose@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 206d (4 replies)

Don't mind me, just emailing myself a picture I secretly took of our totally mundane dinner. OK.

PowerCrazy@lemmy.ml · 5 pts · 206d (3 replies)

It's possible that they had all agreed to no pictures, but since it's Epstein, of course he took some anyway.

drmoose@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 205d (2 replies)

Clearly he was a smart guy so him risking the photo must be worth it? Well at least he thought it was worth it which makes you wonder why.

PowerCrazy@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 205d

I suspect the guest-list alone motivated him to document it.

crank0271@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 205d

This guy must have been the master at making sure the flash was off

justastranger@sh.itjust.works · 12 pts · 205d (2 replies)

Lemme fix that for you

well-connected socialite who has already been convicted of child sex trafficking long before the image was taken

It only seems innocuous when divorced from context.

PowerCrazy@lemmy.ml · 4 pts · 205d (1 reply)

What's the date of the picture? Because yes, that does change things a bit.

We need to reclaim the wealth that has been stolen so our families don't end up serving their families in perpetuity.

Their children should have to live like regular kids.

DrDickHandler@lemmy.world · -4 pts · 205d

Cute, but not happening.

SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 207d

It was a tech bro douche fest.

Furbag@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 205d

The key revelation here is that this was after his conviction. They knew what this dude was about and still showed up to a dinner party.

Musk and Zuck wanted to fuck kids.

Zahille7@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 207d (3 replies)

ima assume that Donald Duck slapped this photo on Elon's face when he started tweeting about releasing Epstein files. He probably also slapped this on Zuckerberg and Thiel's faces on other occasions too.

God isn't real. Billionaires don't need an imaginary sky wizard to deflect blame to. Hold them personally accountable for their actions.

We do a lot of dick swinging these days, via the convenience of being able to redefine so easily what counts as progress. Is capital growth progress? Is extending the average life expectancy progress? Is exhaustive levels of individualism progress? Is being able to fuck kids on a private island, while none of the poor people know about it, progress? Is being able to kill a large animal progress?

I don’t think any one of those should necessarily count as progress. Especially not the one involving kids, though that seems to be in opposition to what our billionaire class believes.

Progress comes relative to a shared value system. The world’s leading economic and military superpower does not really have a shared value system anymore. That makes none of them capable of any meaningful progress, unless they find a way to come together as one. That’s going to be hard when your billionaire class controls your media platforms. Would you call that control they wield “progress?”

What if, it turns out, that the psychology of an entity capable of contorting as much energy in such a way is also a psychology that would not do so? Say, because to learn as much about the universe, as to be able to treat it by blowing up its stars, you must understand the universe in a way that would reliably demotivate any such action?
