grindr is not the place to find a long term relationship

lugal@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 73 pts · 177d (1 reply)

Neither is the hospital

Zorsith@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 49 pts · 177d

It could last the rest of your life

Melissa@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 36 pts · 177d (8 replies)

You’d be surprised… I currently have two LTRs that started as Grindr hookups…

eupraxia@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 3 pts · 176d (1 reply)

Same here! Found a couple really great people on Grindr I'm happily still with a few years later. Met a bandmate there too, lol

Melissa@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 4 pts · 176d

Yep, I’ve found it really comes down to setting the right intentions up front, and being selective in who you play with. My goal was never to be on Grindr forever, but that’s where I had to go to meet fun kinky trans people in my area.

Derpenheim@lemmy.zip · -12 pts · 177d (5 replies)

How old are you? Or is your definition of an "LTR" like 3 years?

nylo@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 70 pts · 177d (3 replies)

i think most people would agree that 3 years is a long term relationship

ImgurRefugee114@reddthat.com · -14 pts · 177d (2 replies)

Really? Maybe I'm just weird about intimacy or something but my shortest relationship that wasn't a literal joke was like 3 years, most being 4. If people are frequently under that then I wonder why they're diving into relationships they don't have high confidence in... Do people count grindr hookups as relationship?.. I guess I've never been one for dating so...

teegus@sh.itjust.works · 19 pts · 177d

I was married for 3 years. Felt like a thousand tho. How is a grind hookup equivalent in any way to a 3y relationship?

Melissa@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 176d

No, I don’t count hookups as relationships, especially not long term relationships. But when they turn into significantly more than that, I do. I don’t need to defend my relationships though.

Melissa@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 8 pts · 176d

My definition is relationships I’ve been in for a good while that I intend to stay in. Why the personal attacks though? Seems pretty rude for no reason.

JoMiran@lemmy.ml · 16 pts · 177d

Not with that attitude. Take it till you make it!

Denjin@feddit.uk · 15 pts · 177d (2 replies)

What about the guy who shat in that dudes mouth? Dreams can come true...

guynamedzero@piefed.zeromedia.vip · 8 pts · 177d (1 reply)

I was looking for that post the other day cause I was curious if he went through with it, and it looks like it got deleted.

Denjin@feddit.uk · 19 pts · 177d

Yeah, mods are a bunch of anti scat-fetish prudes.

He did go though with it, both were very happy.

PhoenixDog@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 176d

You could say the same thing about Tinder, and I've been married for over 8 years because of it.

ImgurRefugee114@reddthat.com · 51 pts · 177d (4 replies)

So... How long term are we talking? "Til death do us part" like, two hours?

D_C@sh.itjust.works · 24 pts · 177d (2 replies)

You gotta shoot your shot though.

ImgurRefugee114@reddthat.com · 24 pts · 177d (1 reply)

deacon@lemmy.world · 25 pts · 177d (5 replies)

Grindr has been around 14 years? Weird way to feel old.

morgunkorn@discuss.tchncs.de · 19 pts · 177d

founded 16 years ago:3

tempest@lemmy.ca · 11 pts · 177d (3 replies)

Tinder (do the kids even use this anymore) is from around the early 2010s

dandelion@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 12 pts · 177d (2 replies)

"online dating" for me still makes me primarily think of match.com and okcupid, lol

tempest@lemmy.ca · 4 pts · 176d (1 reply)

You're in luck then because I'm pretty sure match (or the entity that owns it) owns all these dating apps.

So your still right in a sense.

dandelion@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 1 pts · 176d

oh, wow - I didn't know that, thanks!

oatscoop@midwest.social · 15 pts · 177d

Huh, my experience has been mostly unsolicited dick picks from sentient thumbs that appear to be other peoples' husbands.

girst@feddit.org · 3 pts · 175d (1 reply)

I also met this guy's husband on grindr.

morgunkorn@discuss.tchncs.de · 3 pts · 174d

xD

hope you had fun, he's hung! :3

KokusnussRitter@discuss.tchncs.de · 24 pts · 177d

If that isn't an icebreaker I don't know what is

SHOT THROUGH THE HEART!

... and you're to blame...

Darling, you give love...

A BAD NAME!

guitar sting

morphballganon@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 177d (3 replies)

It's a riff, probably involves multiple strings

sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 4 pts · 177d (2 replies)

I may technically be using the term sting innacurately, but it generally refers to a particular short melody or short riff, that is used as a kind of specific evocative musical 'phrase' in a movie, or a whole soundtrack, or even in a videogame.

Often the simple sting itself can become iconic, and/or be repeated in different variations throughout a larger composition or longer set of scenes.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sting_(musical_phrase)

But yes, generally a guitar sting involves more than one string.

... I guess unless its that ramshackle slide guitar Jack White assembled in about a minute, that one time.

morphballganon@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 177d (1 reply)

Oh I thought you said string lol

sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 177d

All good lol

Trying to get on someone's insurance plan.

deacon@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 177d

This is light years beyond the level of multitasking I aspire to on my best days, so I really have to give my respect.

diffaldo@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 7 pts · 177d

Priorities 👍

germanatlas@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 7 pts · 177d

Can’t argue with that
