The Democratic Party has really been a right wing party this whole time.
America hasn’t ever really had a real left wing

oh yeah they're about to slide right from neocon-warhawk to SS-Totenkopf tattoos but still you have libs crying about "vote in the primaries!!"

Hey they got one of those Nazi tattoo guys and they're telling me I gotta believe he's practically Karl Marx!

"I do but the party actively undermines democracy during those. Repeatedly, openly, and unashamedly."

You can vote but not be critical of any candidate or else you are just trying to help the republicans win....
doctordevice@lemmy.ca · 10 pts · 160d
Seriously, so fucking infuriating. How am I supposed to not be critical of the people who handed Donald Trump the presidency twice? And the first time they literally directed media outlets to prop him up in the Republican primary.
Right, I'm the problem with my one vote in a state that's gonna give their electors to the Democrat no matter what I do (but I vote for the shitty neoliberal in the general anyway). Not the elite class who gave our country to the fascists because that's what their donors wanted.

before or after the election or ever.
Offer void for anyone left of party leadership. Even bigoted attacks were perfectly fine against Mamdani. But say that Harris shouldn't have supported genocide and centrists will insist that you personally coronated trump.

Correction: It hasn't had a real left wing since Truman. The Taft-Hartley act effectively excised the trade unions from having anything to do with the Democratic party. Half the Democratic party voted in favour of it, which allowed them to override Truman's veto.

You're kinda proving their point lol. If you consider the US during that era to even slightly lean left then you have no familiarity with left wing policy and ideology...plus there was the whole, "oh shit, Communism is growing in popularity, quick give them the most bare bones social safety net so they don't get angry enough to demand actual socialism" thing before they could get the cold war facade up.

I don't think Truman wanted to change the mode of production lol. Amaleka never had a real left wing.

Same thing in the UK. Just replace Democrats with Labour and MAGA with Reform.
Xerxos@lemmy.ml · 13 pts · 161d
Same in Germany: The center right CDU tries to get voters from the far right AFD. Never worked, but they keep on trying.
eldavi@lemmy.ml · 12 pts · 161d
the democrats are going to try again; that's why they blocked the release of their post-mortem investigation into the last election.
wewbull@feddit.uk · 6 pts · 161d
That's more like our Conservative party doing it (which they are), but Labour is meant to be a worker's party.

Same in Canada. But switch the red and blue colours and our party names are more on the nose (Conservative/Liberal vs Republican/Democrat)

We just need to write Jasmine Crockett's name on the ticket. Fuck the rest of the dems.

Talarico beat her in the primary. He's to her left.

I thought primaries were later this year.
Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 158d
Nope. March 3 in Texas. There's some runoffs, but not in democrats' Senate primary.
ScoffingLizard@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 157d
Any idea what she is doing next? Still going for senate?
Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 157d
I haven't heard any announcements. Really hope she stays in politics.
