But I still gotta go to fucking work tomorrow

PhobosAnomaly@feddit.uk · 37 pts · 155d (14 replies)

well technically you don't gotta

It's just very helpful for things like mortgages and bills and stuff.

remotedev@lemmy.ca · 31 pts · 155d (11 replies)

You don't gotta, but you gotta. Because for some reason some people decided it's not a right to have food/water/shelter, it's something you have to earn.

SarahValentine@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 5 pts · 155d

Because transactional relationships are easier than dealing with feelings. I guess.

CannonFodder@lemmy.world · -11 pts · 155d (9 replies)

You gotta put in if you're gonna get out

sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml · 24 pts · 155d (8 replies)

From each according to their ability to each according to their need. Food, water, and shelter are needs and should be provided for unconditionally. We have the ability to fulfill these needs and not doing so is immoral. Some people are not able or willing to contribute to the collective good unless these needs have already been met, we all benefit from uplifting the destitute.

Sounds great until everyone wants a free ride, then there's no one left to peddle.

sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml · 16 pts · 155d (6 replies)

Fortunately that is not how people or societies function

CannonFodder@lemmy.world · -4 pts · 155d

Yes, and I'm very glad we have a social safety net. But that wouldn't be available if everyone just figured they didn't want to work and had a right to food and shelter without contributing.

vivalapivo@lemmy.today · 5 pts · 155d

So you want to say they don't have to, but they're conditioned to do it. As if.. as if you were trying to say that we live in the society

ChicoSuave@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 155d

Take to the woods! Shed the things of man! Find what it means to be alive.

moakley@lemmy.world · 67 pts · 155d (7 replies)

Last time I saw this post I said it reminded me of this picture of a snake that was electrocuted after biting a wire, and then another snake that was electrocuted after biting the first snake.

::: spoiler expand :::

This one resonates with me more because the first snake was probably an idiot who saw the wire and thought, "I'm gonna bite that other snake." Then he died from it.

Second snake comes along, sees the first snake, has the exact same thought, then dies in the exact same way.

Except the second snake was right. But the first snake's stupidity still killed him.

_stranger_@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 155d (1 reply)

that is fucking wild. Did you take this pic or find it?

moakley@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 155d

Found it. It's been doing the rounds for years.

LiveLM@lemmy.zip · 7 pts · 154d (2 replies)

For some reason I never considered snakes would bite each other

Soggy@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 154d

That's the whole deal with the kingsnake and king cobra, they're specialist snake-eaters. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ophiophagy

moakley@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 154d

I just assumed these snakes in particular were jerks.

ordnance_qf_17_pounder@reddthat.com · 5 pts · 155d

He was actually quite powerful for a brief second

But he resisted, that was what took him out.

ByteJunk@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 155d

It didn't even trip the breaker... ;_;

FellowHuman@lemmy.world · 27 pts · 155d (1 reply)

Meybe he thought that since the wires are same color, nothing will halpen. Seriously who wired this.

This bit is probably specific for eu: Yellow (well yellow-green atleast) is suppose to be effin GND.

Denvil@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 154d

In the US, ground is bare copper, green, or green and yellow.

Neutral is white or grey

And hots are any other color, with black, red, and blue being common for lower voltages, and brown, orange, and yellow being common for higher voltages. But that's just an unofficial standard, you can run all hot pink wires for your hots if you really wanted to.

EXPLOSIVE

INTERSTITIAL

DELAMINATION !

Kolanaki@pawb.social · 3 pts · 155d (1 reply)

Is that anything like total protonic reversal?

_stranger_@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 154d

There's a thin membrane/layer of tissue that lives between all your organs, so that explosively delaminating would be protonic reversal bad, but in a slow, wet, meaty sort of way.

FooBarrington@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 155d

I first read the second word as "intestinal"

this_1_is_mine@lemmy.ml · 8 pts · 155d

Yes please make my death a brand new sentence.

1D10@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 155d (1 reply)

Like from some weird DNA mutation that leads to very painful years of slowly losing first your vision then your hearing until you are trapped in a shell of your body screaming in pain until deaths cold embrace?

Kolanaki@pawb.social · 2 pts · 155d

Before checking the context I thought this was a reply to another thread about having a GITS robot body and was like "I can turn my pain settings to 0 🤷‍♂️."

I'm calling it: slop

That looks nothing like a mouse skull and the foot placement is too perfect
