I have that knife. It is a good knife for sandwich making. The serrated edge cuts bread, and the rounded tip makes it good for spreading things that need spreading.
We sometimes use a steak knife (not the big cutting ones, the sharper serrated table knives) for bread rolls. Sweden's a lawless hellscape compared to you down south.
Edit: yes, I guess it’s a roll you only have at breakfast, but is there something that forbids them the rest of the day? Do you have special rolls for each meal?
They are topped with butter, followed by cheese or minced meat. Or, in the morning, people tend to prefer sweet toppings such as jam or hazelnut nougat spread.
I get it. I have a set of ceramic knives I use almost exclusively for cutting soft flesh vegetables like tomatoes and peppers. And the peppers get cut with a cleaver if I'm cutting pretty much any other thing at the same time, so they're really just tomato knives.

Liberated a steak knife from Outback steakhouse long ago. Similar in design and my favorite sammy accessory.

If it's so dull, get it sharpened.

Or demote it to poop knife.

Of course. This is Germany after all. It's all laid out in the Frühstücksbrötchenzeiteinteilungsgesetz.
SpruceBringsteen@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 154d
you'd think that, but a breakfast roll is your morning poop
Codpiece@feddit.uk · 6 pts · 154d
And that warrants its own knife?
DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 154d
Breakfast roll refers to both the food and the after event. Both need their own knife, but some use the same knife, a shared knife, if you will.
If you don't know the poop knife story, here it is, archived off Reddit:

I could have happily lived out the rest of my life in the ignorance I was accustomed too.
TIL American toilets have a much higher water line than the ones I’m used too. And some people need a poop knife.
jaybone@lemmy.zip · 4 pts · 154d
No one has a poop knife.

It’s sorta an English breakfast folded into a French baguette. I guess it’s an acquired taste: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breakfast_roll

That doesn't look anything like what they mean by breakfast rolls in Germany. These look much more like it: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Br%C3%B6tchen
They are topped with butter, followed by cheese or minced meat. Or, in the morning, people tend to prefer sweet toppings such as jam or hazelnut nougat spread.

I somehow missed the “German” in the post, sorry. Much better! I am very fond of Deutsche Brötchen <3
Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 154d
Yikes! This is an affront to the sacred tradition of Frühstücksbrötchen.

They're great for cutting tomatoes, though.

I cut mine with this swedish monstrosity. Also good for cutting cake horizontally. Which I think it's meant for.
Smol knife for scale.
Edit: probably around 50 years old

Hey we do too! No rounded tip though
Full tang stainless steel. Works like a champ. Got it years ago in a block set.
hanrahan@slrpnk.net · 3 pts · 152d
when it's blunt does it go to the toilet as the poop knife?
humorlessrepost@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 152d
Need a brown one for that, otherwise you have to wash it.
HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 154d
that is very pretty. is it copper?
Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 154d
It's just cheap stainless steel with a cheap plastic handle. But it does the job pretty well.

is it actually that beautiful green or are my eyes being betrayed by your dazzling photography skills

Looks like skewed white balance to me, that happens very commonly when photographing against a wooden background.
I suspect this is a bit closer to what it actually looks like:

Don't know what a breakfast roll is, but that is a butter knife.
