It’s incredible to believe that the frontman of The Smiths wrote and recorded those songs at the same time as working as the tea boy at Pete Waterman’s pop factory, and some time before his own not-insignificant pop career.
It’s a pity this Morrissey usurper succeeded in writing Rick out of the picture.

„Kill a …“ and „Death to …“ slogans are more popular and surprisingly accepted.

True, if you can murder a human you can murder a cow.

I know some vegans that feel otherwise.

I think the confliction comes from your assumption. You assume he is vegan or anti anime meat, or you assume he thinks murder is wrong.

I only eat meat that ran into me from around the corner with toast in its mouth

"Meat is Murder" was the name of a Morrisey tour and you are not required to follow an artist's diet to listen to their music

Unless it's Morrissey, who often prohibits the sale of meat at venues or festivals he's playing at.
glimse@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 162d
Not having it for sale at the venue doesn't prohibit you from eating it before and after though

Not a lot of fans of The Smiths over here apparently.
Meat is Murder was an album they put out in 1985. Its not my favorite album by morriesy but it's not bad.

iirc the album cover shows that phrase written on a combat helmet of a soldier, so presumably it can be interpreted ironically.

Reminds me of a shirt my dad had while I was growing up that said "Meat is murder... Quick, eat the evidence!".

2017 was after Morrissey’s lurch to the far right. Who knows what this guy’s up to.

If read all together it sounds like something a Bond villain would say in some low rent, meat themed James Bond film.
Meat is murder, Mr Ribs...

There is no cognitive dissonance here, he's a carnivore who also likes the musical stylings of Morrisey.
He's wearing a shirt with the name of a tour lol

Livestock are a major source of pollution. Killing and eating them is destroying a source of pollution!

the eating isn't a problem. the problems are all in the production.
