I forget which day it is this month, but it's 11 years sober in March 2026.

I kinda wish I was in a more celebratory mood but I honestly dgaf at the moment.

Yay I guess.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 150d (1 reply)

Congratulations! That's a HUGE achievement! If it wasn't for you, Gibson wouldn't have a cosy lifestyle. I wish you both well. โค๏ธ

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 150d

That's very kind of you โค๏ธ

Taleya@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 150d

weirdly, DGAF is also a good sign. Not drinking is so habitual now you don't even notice no mo. Proud of you, bud.

mertn22@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 150d

Yay for sure. I'm 10 weeks sober and loving it.

Taleya@aussie.zone · 11 pts · 150d (12 replies)

so, uh, I guess they're officially coming home with us now. (well, thursday)

We're renaming them to Samuel (Sammy) Frederick and Maxwell (Max) George because we are not fans of JKR, but it seems disrespectful to summarily dismiss those who saved their lives. Also we found out that they were literally due to be euthanised the same day as Misha before KRS found an emergency foster. His Lordship also never looks at pet rescue because it breaks his heart but for some reason he did the day they were listed - with Max looking uncannily like Misha (including, as we found out on visiting, a damaged tail)

The world works in weird ways.

Cerys knows something's up as we're doing up the dining room as a landing zone, but she's incredibly food motivated (as is Sam) so I don't forsee any massive problems considering they'd both sell their grandmothers for a freeze dried crocodile bite.

Bottom_racer@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 150d

ooh nice looking kitties!

Catfish@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 150d

Welcome chaos boys

Eagle@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 150d (3 replies)

They are lovely. I see shenanigans in your future!

Taleya@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 150d (2 replies)

oh we've had kittens and ginger boys before (Punkin and Cerys and their siblings were literally born in our last house), so we know what to expect. Bandaids stocked up and all breakables are being moved to floor level. The one and only time Punkin decided to check out the top of the fridge he smashed four out of a box of six imported belgian tulip glasses all over the kitchen so His Lordship has LEARNED THE LESSON

Eagle@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 150d (1 reply)

Ginger boys make up for it with love though!

Taleya@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 150d

oh they do. They really really do.

the downside is your heart shatters when they pass

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 150d (2 replies)

Theyโ€™re beautiful.

Taleya@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 150d (1 reply)

Misha was an incredibly good momma cat, and even years after being fixed would always come investigating if anything playing had a kitten mew in it. So we're telling ourselves we're looking after babies for her.

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 150d

She would love that. She had to go but she saved these boys

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 150d

they are so lovely ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ˜ธ๐Ÿ˜ธ

SituationCake@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 150d

They are gorgeous.

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 150d

I can't wait to hear about their antics!

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 9 pts · 150d (4 replies)

The job stress is causing the heart issues. First day in office for 7 days and my heart was going a bit wild all day.

Plus was waiting to see it they'd fire me.

Hopefully these interviews this week go well.

miss seagoon was like this when younger, she was on beta blockers ๐Ÿ˜”

hugs and good luck with the interviews

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 150d

Thank you โค๏ธ

Bottom_racer@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 150d (1 reply)

I hope the heart eases man. No fun at that high bpm.

Also lol at the brollie. I'm sure the kitties appreciate it :)

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 150d

I appreciate it man โค๏ธ

Today was pretty bad so I'm really hoping I make it through these interviews this week.

It's sort of at the point of: if I stay, I'm putting myself at risk from stress.

But we'll see what happens :)

Oh the cats were happy lol

Drove past Moorabbin Airport just as 6 hot air Balloons were coming into land. There was one in the shape of a turtle!

I see them regularly when I get into the office. It's such a serene sight.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 150d (3 replies)

I am back from my local cinema. It is a very nice and old fashioned theatre. I watched PHM again, to catch the things I missed the first time.

It is a very beautiful movie, the images unforgettable.

useless_modern_god@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 150d (1 reply)

Itโ€™s lovely. Iโ€™m guessing you had the whole place to yourself

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 150d

even tho it was a morning session the cinema was a quarter full!

there were also about a dozen young teens in there taking advantage of the day off due to the teachers strike ๐Ÿ˜Š, How is it young ones love to sit near front? They stayed for the whole movie and were well behaved, I'm assuming they enjoyed it. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 150d

That's where I saw it!! I love that theatre. I have a membership

I have an embarrassing confession to make. ๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ˜”

when I was younger I had a Cats tshirt like on PHM , I also had the album and went to the play

in my defence I also had the ts eliot book when I was 17 years old, 3 years before the play came out

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 150d (5 replies)

That's not embarrassing, thats cute.

My confession. Last night I asked YL to smell my pits because I'm worried I'm smelling like old person. She said she could only smell deodorant. I've ordered some persimmon soap. ๐Ÿ˜”

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 150d (1 reply)

but it's not elegant ๐Ÿ˜

also, today I have on a top with a Moomin patch I sewed on and am wearing a vintage hippy shell necklace ๐Ÿ˜Š

Y'know, if America gets to have military bases in Australia, and gets to arbitrarily decide to go to war in a way that fucks us over, and gets to influence the outcome of our elections in ways that benefit them, I really reckon we should get a say in their elections, too.

It's only fair.

StudChud@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 149d

We shall bestow upon them the blessing of compulsory voting and entirely rework how their elections are performed. Also we exile the GOP to Epstein island, with no resources and an abundance of hungry north Australian crocs.

But really it mostly stems from the Union not properly punishing the Conferdates lol

Black cat is napping in the back yard. Feeling so sad that Melbcat could no longer enjoy like that (safety reasons).

Wondering if I should make a winter shelter for him but what happens if he comes to rely on me/my place and then I move? Also my physical and mental health are really unstable now. ๐Ÿ˜”

If he wasnโ€™t owned and I wasnโ€™t going through hell I might consider fostering or adoption (if I became more ready) but thatโ€™s not really a possibility. Itโ€™s a real pickle.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 150d

I'm gonna help YL clean her room. Which means I will bend while she watches. I try to act nonchalant but when I see t-shirts hung up and dresses and nice tops go in the drawer that I have washed, there's a little bit inside me that screams. I keep it in. It's best that way.

It's her room. She can do as she likes. It's her room she can do as she likes. It's her room....

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 150d (8 replies)

Usually I buy the 100 packs of generic black tea bags but Iโ€™m having some Earl Grey tea as a treat (from one of the little 10 packs).

I got a lift to Kmart for new earbuds and checked out the tubsโ€ฆ the different sizes donโ€™t nest properly, the smaller one was too tall to allow the outer lid to go on. Even without insulating layers of straw adding to the height.

Maybe Iโ€™ll see what the big green shed offers, or if I can make something work with the miscellaneous tubs I have. Though theyโ€™re not black to hold in precious heat and arenโ€™t uv resistant. Cutting them will be interesting because I have a mini hacksaw and Stanley knife but no blowtorch or drill. I just spotted a pair of fuzzy buns wandering past so he does not go home when it rains.

Otherwise I donโ€™t know what else to do. I bought some books from the op shop but have been unable to concentrate on reading even though I used to be a big reader. Maybe Iโ€™ll go learn a random skill off youtube. idk.

::: spoiler spoiler Things got really bad recently, Iโ€™m being referred to grief counselling and am trying to stay busy but am dying inside. Everything reminds me of my deeply loved Melbcat and Iโ€™m swinging between regrets that I didnโ€™t try harder to save her and regrets at making her hold on that long because I didnโ€™t know the worst of it. And regrets that I didnโ€™t do even more to make her happy and enriched in the time we had. I just want to hug her again. :::

Thanks Seagoon

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 149d

Thanks man :(

Taleya@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 149d (3 replies)

Even if you had done everything perfectly you would still have some manufactured regrets. Our minds cling to "if i'd just" because we're not allowed to howl at the void any more

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 149d (2 replies)

Youโ€™re right. I did what was best for her and will regret anyway

Taleya@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 149d (1 reply)

You did your best and both of you still got your life together taken away. And that's shit. It's incredibly shit.

You're allowed to be upset about that. You're allowed to be angry. But don't you ever feel guilty or regret putting up one hell of a fight.

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 149d

I really donโ€™t feel like doing art or knitting/crochet right now. I donโ€™t want to do more cleaning or mending. I donโ€™t want to learn music. Cooking involves cleaning and eating it or food waste. Trying to cut through hard plastic can wait.

::: spoiler CW learning medical skills

Currently learning to do a basic interrupted suture with a mattress needle on the cut skin of a banana (using tweezers in lieu of forceps and normal thread - donโ€™t have anything like a needle holder. Maybe my mini pliers or clamps might work)โ€ฆ

Mad respect to doctors because this is not easy. The peel is so soft but inflexible that itโ€™s hard to close the cut without tearing through the skin. Donโ€™t get injured around me folks, because this is not mastered and I donโ€™t plan to use this. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WSYenn0tNhs :::

Might learn bandaging or mix it up and try more soldering practice next time.

Iโ€™ve been watching a lot of short form content and am trying to reverse the brainrot.

Made it down the bellarine yesterday.

Way too much noise from the buildings next door.

Made my mind up when there was 180 degree oasis wonderwall at 7:00am mixed with bashing scaffolding together. I am NOT doing wonderwall at that ungodly hour.

Also the bus from g-town to queenscliff was 100% packed so I guess fuel is starting to bite. Lotta well dressed middle aged peeps. Usually there's only a handful of people if that.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 150d (4 replies)

My Temu return has been dropped off at the post office. They have a very weird return algorithm for their bots to follow. I also had a watch band I was going to return and had arranged to go to a parcelpoint location which is closer, but because I had to go to the post office anyway I cancelled the return so I could re-do it with an Aus Post label instead. But this time it just decided I didn't need to return it and just refunded the money. I guess the op shops getting a watch band.

Went to play Doom Eternal last night and whilst Steam thinks I have the whole thing, the game thinks I don't have the base game. I tried refunding it so I could buy again but Steam won't let me, so let's hope a redownload helps

I just finished 2016 on ultra nightmare and wanted to jump into Eternal but it seems like I bought the wrong version because of all these confusing and annoying season pass options
