This was always the plan. Replace TSA with ICE Gestapo. Remove unionized government workers and replace with “private” security force. (Loyalist brownshirts)

Yes you can decline but they can also decline to let you through security since air travel isn't a right much like driving a car.

In fairness, the TSA ALSO checked IDs in security lines, that was the first thing they would do before you had to take off your belt and shoes and things.
