I work from home but I can go in to the office whenever I want. I just don't usually because it takes a bit more time and effort getting packed up and getting there. But I went in today the first time in a while besides for planned events like lunch socials. It's good to make myself get out and have a bit more face to face interaction.

My cheapo brush gets significantly softer when I let it sit with some water in it. Do synthetic brushes do that? I'm trying to figure out what kind of hair it is 😅. It didn't say on the package I think.

A picture would make it pretty easy to determine, but based off what you said my guess is it's boar.

P(boar/cheap & gets softer in the water) > 0.5

Thanks, I think you're right. Quite prickly when completely dry.

Yep. Boar. I have a few boar brushes and like them a lot.

In the beginning I thought it was a bit rough. But after breaking it in and adding soaking to the ritual I enjoy it as well.

All boar brushes come with some "upside down" hairs which won't ever split or get soft. I don't think it's intentional, just the nature of trying to wrangle thousands and thousands of hairs. They're pretty easy to find and pick out with tweezers if you find the brush a bit too scratchy.

If you get the knot wet, the nice soft split hairs tend to stick together, and the thick un-split upside down hairs tend to stand out and be easier to find that way.

Wow, cool to know. Never noticed that. I checked it last shave and found one and removed it.
