I love joke articles, especially video game ones. Nintendo Allows Mario In Grand Theft Auto type stuff, you know? Parody type stuff that every one gets in on, companies Introducing Tire Fries from like a car dealership. Incredibly dumb things that wouldn't ever be a thing. They make me giggle.
I genuinely enjoyed it more when I was younger, finding all the joke articles and whatnot. Now I enjoy it less, but I’m content to let others have their fun. No use whining about it, and why should I decrease someone else’s enjoyment, when all I need to do is sit back and ignore stuff that doesn’t matter anyway. Easy.
Im more annoyed with the algorithmic nature of the internet often putting april fools content on my feed on any other day except april fools rather than the existence of the day itself
Most years I enjoy it, this year someone's liable to get throat-chopped. March has drained my tolerance for shenanigans (which is a shame, as I usually love shenanigans).
Let me guess, it's because of the giant invasive hornets that woke up from their hibernation in March? They're freaking everywhere here now too in Vermont
More a series of cosmically hilarious but directly infuriating/extremely disappointing events upending the plans of myself and people I care most about, delaying a series of very important life events.
eyes this comment suspiciously, knife hand at the ready
Later:
reads about European Hornets in Vermont, slowly but not entirely lowering knife hand
Today's the day when too many emails end with "sadly, this is not an april fool's joke". Already had my fair share of them today as the coworkers are freaking out about the attack on axios (they're a day late, but I guess I wasn't in yesterday to alert them..)

I enjoy it, to be honest.

It's like the difference between a real prank and punching someone in the face and calling it a prank.

When every day feels like a fool's day, and the internet is flooded with deep fakes. Then there's no room for April fools, as it's just another day.
We could as well change it to April truth's day, then it will stand out.

A truth day would be refreshing…

Maybe a social media platform based on telling truer truths?

I don’t find it amusing at all
OwOarchist@pawb.social · 3 pts · 136d
Just really tedious, honestly. Bunch of people doing stupid pointless shit for a full day, for no real reason.
zeppo@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 136d
Basically, if you can tell it’s obviously in April fools prank, it’s cheesy and sort of lame… And if not, it’s misleading.
darkmogool@feddit.org · -1 pts · 136d
Yep, it's tedious af. It also undermines all credibility.

That reminds me: I forgot to hide fake spiders in the flat. Everyone enjoys those.

Some people to through life living every day like it's April 1st 💀

All the April fools day content I've seen so far has been pretty weak, I think the idea has somewhat run it's course.
