Customer brings me a fancy coffee each morning that's completely wasted on an uncivilized caveman like myself, but I appreciate the gesture

Edit:

The next day. Same spot - different tools and cup.

Something about this picture just screams middle school maths book cover.

Iconoclast@feddit.uk · 57 pts · 137d (2 replies)

You're free to use it if you cut me in

Yondoza@sh.itjust.works · 17 pts · 137d (1 reply)

Bottom right corner ok? Could use a face down there.

Iconoclast@feddit.uk · 15 pts · 137d

Those poor middle schoolers did nothing to deserve that kind of treatment.

Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world · 61 pts · 137d (1 reply)

Do you enjoy the coffee? Then it's not wasted.

Soulphite@reddthat.com · 29 pts · 137d

No. He means he pours it out and adds whisky to the cup.

I agree

sepi@piefed.social · 51 pts · 137d (1 reply)

It's not wasted on you, bro: you are important.

Madzielle@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 13 pts · 137d

came here to say just this.

If you enjoy it, then its not wasted!

SlurpingPus@lemmy.world · 38 pts · 137d (1 reply)

They're doing the long con, so to say, by cultivating the acquired taste. By the end of the job you'll be able to tell the difference between Kenyan and Ethiopian arabica.

Shhhh - don't give away the secrets of Big Bean!

What's the story with this ruler. It seems to be have markings for measuring up to 20.5cm of length, but it's labeled from 10 to 30. Why does it not start from zero?

Iconoclast@feddit.uk · 27 pts · 137d (1 reply)

It used to be 30 cm long, but I shortened it and rounded the corners. I had to cut off the first 10 cm rather than the 20–30 cm section, because otherwise I'd lose the markings for the first few millimetres when I grind the corner.

tychosmoose@piefed.social · 12 pts · 137d

Makes perfect sense! The sharp corners on most rulers like this aren't very pocket-friendly.

SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social · 5 pts · 137d (2 replies)

We do not ask about the compact ruler. We don't even acknowledge it's there.

tychosmoose@piefed.social · 3 pts · 137d (1 reply)

There's a French First Empire joke in here somewhere.

SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social · 2 pts · 137d

Well, now I see it as well, and I'm laughing. Thanks for that 😂

JamieDub86@piefed.social · 1 pts · 137d (1 reply)

Ruler starts a 0, markings start at 10. A bit like how some cars speedos start at 10.

As for the othet end, did you mean 30.5?

tychosmoose@piefed.social · 2 pts · 137d

The roads might be safer if we marked speedos like this

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 137d (2 replies)

that is a very kind gesture. i have a client who brings me mcdonalds coffee and you know what? hell yeah i don't have to get up and get a cup of coffee i fucking appreciate that.

that coffee is not wasted on you at all dude. you deserve it

Iconoclast@feddit.uk · 14 pts · 137d (1 reply)

The coffee isn't wasted - just the fancy part of it. It's pretty good coffee though. They've got a proper espresso machine too.

Absolutely not complaining here. I'm so fucking delighted to see how nice most people actually are. I really do enjoy the human encounters in my job which I'm surprised to say.

Fmstrat@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 135d

As someone who doesn't drink coffee, but enjoys making proper cortados for my partner, the coffee is not wasted.

Your customer is proud of what they make, and you present an opportunity to show off so the effort is as much for them as for you. Compliment them on it, even if it's not your style, and they will appreciate it immensely.

I doubt most cavemen possessed two framing squares.

gumdrop@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 137d

Enjoy that coffee yo! You deserve it!

There are grooves - I can feel them when I glide a fingernail across it. I've had that thing in the thigh pocket of my work pants for about a decade.

autriyo@feddit.org · 6 pts · 137d

I'd say grooves is a valid term.

But how are you sure that there aren't any? I feel it's difficult to tell just by looking at the picture...

Flax_vert@feddit.uk · 5 pts · 137d

You look more like a fine craftsman

sylphrin@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 137d

Not wasted! If she's anything like me, the fact that the coffee is fancy is largely for herself. I can't stand offering anyone in my house worse coffee than I would make for myself, unless they specifically prefer it that way. It just feels so wrong.

If you get any extra enjoyment out of the fanciness level, that's just additional icing on the cake.

fakeman_pretendname@feddit.uk · 5 pts · 137d (2 replies)

Does it annoy you that your combination square has metric on one side and American on the other, instead of having the same measurement on both sides?

How do you cope with measurements on both the inside and outside of corners?

Iconoclast@feddit.uk · 5 pts · 137d

I have no use for freedom units in my line of work, so ideally it would be metric only, but I can deal with it. It has measurements on both sides so I can usually just flip it if I need the metric units on the other side of the ruler.

tempest@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 137d

Maybe that's just his left handed square and the right handed square is out of shot.

FoxtrotDeltaTango@lemmy.zip · 4 pts · 137d

That fancy coffee is not a waste, its worth it

Then I couldn't drive home at the end of the day due to my principles about drinking and driving but that's okay - my toolkit includes a toothbrush

She's half naked isn't she? Bastard! Lucky freaking bastard!

She's literally offering herself to your every desire and all you....damn! Oh wait. She says its just coffee. Yeah, all good. You do your thing.

Nomad@infosec.pub · 0 pts · 137d (4 replies)

Lady customer is into cave man maybe?

Iconoclast@feddit.uk · 10 pts · 137d (1 reply)

Doesn't concern me for as long as her husband is my best paying customer.

ramble81@lemmy.zip · -1 pts · 137d

It just may not be with money….

Gladaed@feddit.org · 9 pts · 137d

Eww. Can't be nice nowadays?

It's a foamed milk /w espresso with cocoa powder on top and not a sexual advance. Might even be made from a pod machine as opposed to a proper espresso machine. Not a blowjob.

Madzielle@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 6 pts · 137d

She could just be being nice.

I do this kind of thing for people, it does not mean anything further than, "look what I can do" and "please enjoy".
