“The family was blindsided by this, and they ask for privacy and prayers at the time,” Kristi Noem’s representatives reacted in a statement to The New York Post.

Fuck that noise.

Assassassin@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 103 pts · 157d

Privacy for the ghoul in charge of ripping people from their homes in the middle of the night? Fuck you.

Prayers for what? To have God help them stop being shitty and hypocritical? Fuck you again.

EtAl@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 31 pts · 156d (1 reply)

I love how they treat a family member being outed as a cross dresser like a death in the family. That so tracks.

Wataba@sh.itjust.works · 11 pts · 156d

That's the kind of society they're actively trying to achieve.

captainlezbian@lemmy.world · 27 pts · 157d (1 reply)

I'll pray for them, but they won't like it if my prayers are answered

Mirshe@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 156d

Ah yes, the imprecatory Psalms.

dhork@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 157d (1 reply)

No, I think I get it now. This is the excuse she will use to jettison the husband, and spend more time with her boy toy

Cethin@lemmy.zip · 6 pts · 156d

Honestly, this guy could have a fetish as a cuck too. That would make a lot of sense. No shame for that, but plenty of shame for telling other people that they're evil for enjoying what they like.

JTskulk@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 156d (1 reply)

Why? I'm praying for them right now. Praying that they get double cancer.

Wilco@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 156d

Heh. Double cancer, not just cancer ... but double!

sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 4 pts · 156d

Just send little figurines of the puppy she murdered, with prayers for it.

SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca · 118 pts · 157d (1 reply)

So this is the drag queen we were supposed to be worried about?

I wish my local movie theatre had this level of projection.

crandlecan@mander.xyz · 11 pts · 157d

It's called iMax, no?

givesomefucks@lemmy.world · 117 pts · 157d (1 reply)

How was she supposed to keep track of what happens in her own home while she was jetsetting around on her fuck plane with her subordinate?

homes@piefed.world · 33 pts · 157d

Does Lewandowski really count as her subordinate if he was the one who was running the show the whole time? all she really did was get her hair done, shoot ads for her YouTube channel, and get fucked in the back of a private jet. And then later in front of Congress.

Throbbing_banjo@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 93 pts · 157d (3 replies)

"I don't give a fuck who they're screwing in private

I wanna know who they're screwing in public"

This bitch puts children in cages. Ridicule and shame her and her family for hypocrisy all you want, it's well deserved, but the fact that this even matters is pretty wild.

BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today · 19 pts · 157d (2 replies)

The only acceptable target for bullying is MAGA. Open season.

WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca · 4 pts · 157d (1 reply)

JigglySackles@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 157d

Absolutely. It's no mystery that in a Venn diagram they are nearly a circle.

kescusay@lemmy.world · 82 pts · 157d

These fucking people... It's literally all projection, always.

The party of "traditional family values," everyone. If we manage to hold anything even remotely resembling free and fair elections in the future, the first order of business afterwards will need to be replacing all upholstery any of them have touched.

Bloefz@lemmy.world · 38 pts · 157d (2 replies)

Nothing wrong with crossdressing. Though it sounds like he sent some of the pictures to others without consent which is much more of a problem of course (harassment)

But if he wants to dress up as a girl, why not.

DioramaOfShit@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 156d (1 reply)

He didn't dress up as a girl. He dressed up as a man, with giant knockers.

Bloefz@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 156d

Yes true, I saw the actual pics after. It looks less like a real crossdresser to me and rather like a sophomoric joke that leaked.

I made that point elsewhere in the thread but I hadn't seen the pic when I made the above comment.

Mantzy81@aussie.zone · 29 pts · 157d

Isn't she screwing someone else anyway. All these people are hypocrites. If they say they hate cross-dressing, they love it. If they say they are Christian, they're anything but. If they say they have good family values, they're having affairs. Standard.

dhork@lemmy.world · 27 pts · 157d (18 replies)

Why the fuck should we care? I think he would look awesome in a dress.

snooggums@piefed.world · 42 pts · 157d

Because he is the spouse of a member of the party that is villifying drag and trans folks.

HermitBee@feddit.uk · 6 pts · 157d

He might well do. But in the photo that's been widely published, he does not look particularly awesome - apart from anything else, he couldn't even be bothered to line up his fake nipples properly.

tgcoldrockn@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 156d

This is the only response for the left. He's legit, it doesn't bother us. It shouldn't have any negative effect on her public position. Let the right melt down further into stupidity over this.

TribblesBestFriend@startrek.website · -61 pts · 157d (14 replies)

This sort of headlines only show that liberals think that it’s ok to LGBTQ-shame sometimes

hesh@quokk.au · 82 pts · 157d (8 replies)

When a bigot turns out to have closeted queerness its OK to ridicule them.

TribblesBestFriend@startrek.website · 66 pts · 157d (4 replies)

It’s ok to ridicule them on their hypocrisy not on their sexual/gender preference

hesh@quokk.au · 50 pts · 157d

Correct.

WoodScientist@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 156d (2 replies)

These folks tend to have a pretty unhealthy personal relationship with their queerness. This person may not even be queer or trans in any way. We have no indication this person identifies as anything other than a straight cisgender male. They're most likely just a straight cis guy with a crossdressing fetish.

ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 156d (1 reply)

There is also a non-zero chance that he is just pissed off enough at his wife, who has been cucking him publicly with Lewandowski since the first Trump administration, to have gotten himself "caught" kinda sorta not by accident.

In the pic I saw he's looking directly at the camera, which would tend to indicate that he knew he was being photographed.

It's no guarantee he knew where that pic might end up, but on the other hand, in this digital age we ALL know that once a pic is taken, getting it out of every last repository is like trying to pull pee back out of a swimming pool.

Maybe right now he's happier than he's been in ages. I hope so, anyway.

TL;DR: I celebrate this guy's harmless kink, everyone should have one. And honestly, if he employed it to also fuck over his wholly unnatural plastic-filled, two-timing, puppy-killing, immigrant-persecuting, MAGA-loving, murderously fascist virago of a wife that he believed was actually human when he married it, then I celebrate his harmless kink even MORE.

oopsgodisdeadmybad@lemmy.zip · 5 pts · 156d

I don't want any conservative to be happy at all. Everything else you said is fine, but I hope he's still miserable.

Bloefz@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 157d (2 replies)

He might not share his wife's values though.

ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 156d (1 reply)

Most of us on this thread don't, I'd wager to guess.

Bloefz@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 156d

No that's clear. Most of us on lemmy.world don't, that's why I hang out here and not on X or Gab

backalleycoyote@lemmy.today · 27 pts · 157d

Ah, the classic conservative UNO reverse play when a conservative gets busted for a behavior they do in the shadows while spending the rest of their time making life hell for anyone who lives that lifestyle in public. “I’m not a hypocrite, I’m a victim of persecution for my lifestyle and you’re the hypocrite because libs are supposed to accept me!” It attempts to thwart the opposition by turning it on itself arguing over whether it’s proper to criticize, when at the end of the day the Christian ruling class is still in a position to dictate morality to the masses while engaging in whatever they want and demanding to not be confronted about the hypocrisy. You don’t get to enjoy the protection and support of people you’ve helped persecute just because we found out you enjoy the same lifestyle without atonement for everything you’ve done. They don’t want to join anyway, they want to go back to their double standard of none for us and whatever for them while they pretend like they’ve got the moral high ground.

SarahValentine@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 27 pts · 157d (2 replies)

The man shamed himself plenty by the choices he has made, including the shitbag woman he married and the ideology he publicly espoused. Don't act like we're the ones shaming him, or that we're shaming him for being LGBTQ.

captainlezbian@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 157d (1 reply)

We also shouldn't be certain he's queer. Like don't get me wrong, repressed egg is on the list of potential explanations, but he could be a cishet guy who developed this kink through other ways.

Bloefz@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 157d

That's true, there are several reasons for men to crossdress. There's the people who genuinely like to look female (like trans people and drag queens), there's also those who feel it is 'dirty' or degrading and view it as a kink (sissification as it's usually called). There's also some who do it for other reasons without much gender/kink connotations (like for stag parties, initiation rites, carnival etc).

Not all of these imply LGBTQ, only the first one really.

In fact most of the people from the first group tend to be really elaborate about it and make themselves pretty, and not do a half-assed job like he did in that pic. So I would think he is probably not part of the LGBTQ community, at least not based on that pic (not that that would be a bad thing of course!). This looks more like a drunk weekend joke thing got out of hand.

NottaLottaOcelot@lemmy.ca · 8 pts · 156d (2 replies)

It will be interesting to see MAGA’s take on it. Is finding a new partner ok to them in this scenario, or should she be the subservient all-accepting wife?

I don’t often want to know MAGA’s opinion on anything, but to watch them come to an impassable intersection of their values will be fascinating.

tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip · 5 pts · 156d (1 reply)

Cons and magats live with cognitive dissonance every day. This is nothing new

ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 156d

Yes. It's a feature, not a bug, and the propaganda is made to do this by design: if you can keep someone in cognitive dissonance, you can feed them whatever cognitive slop you want, and then they have to find a way to explain it to themselves and keep believing, or face the consequences of realizing the whole thing is a lie, which are usually too high to bear. And it just piles on.

This is part of why the Trump Republicans hate James Talarico so much: he is showing the MAGA crowd you can (and should) be able to keep your Christianity and still ditch Trump, the two are not connected in any actual way except by propaganda. I think urban folks don't realize just how hard this conflation of MAGA and Christianity has been pumped in rural regions: to leave Trump is to face hellfire. To many of us that sounds ridiculous, and it is, but I'm not joking: they've made it so that to be Christian is to be MAGA, and to ditch Trump is to desert Christianity itself.

Strangely enough, the cognitive dissonance is also the weakest point in the whole scheme, and is why the trip out of cognitive manipulation often starts with the tiniest, often unnoticeable piece that doesn't fit: it sticks in their head and refuses to be argued away, and then something else happens, and something else. Cult deprogramming is all about this, allowing people physical space and time to find their own way out of the mental hole without ever actually forcing them to do so.

It's why getting rid of the news as infotainment is so critically important if we can ever get out of this mess: that's the source of the propaganda that keeps it going for the hardcore MAGA believers no matter what their orange god does.

crandlecan@mander.xyz · 3 pts · 157d

Cross dressing is now illegal in Ohio. In a bill that is vaguely worded and will be enforced very subjectively because nature didn't clarify what clothes are masculine and feminine

WesternInfidels@feddit.online · 13 pts · 156d (7 replies)

Things are bad; I'm not going to argue that things aren't bad. I'm not a lawyer, I eat crayons.

That Ohio bill hasn't been passed yet. I don't know how likely it is to pass. Too likely, I guess.

It also doesn't dictate a blanket ban on cross-dressing. What it does do is put "performers or entertainers who exhibit a gender identity that is different from the performer's or entertainer's biological sex" into the category of adult entertainments like stripping, meaning it's restricted in the same ways. No kids allowed. That's lines 153 to 165 here.

That's very big, it's very bad, it's very stupid, it's mean, it's anti-freedom. Un-American, I'd say. It would seem to create problems with Bugs Bunny, Harpo Marx, Monty Python, etc. But the most obvious thing it's targeting is "Drag Queen Story Hour."

But it isn't a ban on cross-dressing in general. Yet.

Edit: If you live in Ohio, you can find and contact your state Senator regarding House Bill 249, the "Indecent Exposure Modernization Act," through this page.

SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 156d

the green ones slide further up my nose.

HopeOfTheGunblade@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 3 pts · 156d (2 replies)

How are they defining performer or entertainer?

WesternInfidels@feddit.online · 3 pts · 156d

I don't see a definition in the bill. I don't know if there's a standard legal definition for that or not.

Even a good-faith interpretation of "performer" could leave some gray areas, I'd think. A song-and-dance number for an audience gathered for the purpose is a performance with a performer, sure. What about an appearance on a talk show, an interview, a forum discussion, a podcast?

Unfortunately, "performance" is a bit of jargon for a specific, unrelated concept in contract law.

The reservations your question suggests are very reasonable. I don't intend to dampen anyone's alarm at this absurd effort to implement legal, systemic bullying over nothing. I just so happened to be reading about the Ohio bill shortly before I came across FreshParsnip's comment.

Kirp123@lemmy.world · 30 pts · 157d (5 replies)

I mean if the Daily Mail found it then you can be sure that foreign intelligence found it way earlier. There's a reason you're supposed to do background checks and vetting for high level government officials. Since Trump doesn't give a shit about all that I wouldn't be surprised if more of his cronies aren't actively being blackmailed.

tburkhol@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 157d

Also possible that Daily Mail found it out from foreign intelligence, maybe even as a consequence of Noem losing her value as a source.

CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 156d

Donvict is more worried about how they look - he is more concerned that they look like they came out of "central casting". The stupid dumbass thinks this is Hollywood.

Bloefz@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 157d (2 replies)

Background checks are more to find actual wrongdoing like criminal activity.

It's more a problem of current American society that this is considered blackmail material at all.

wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz · 5 pts · 156d (1 reply)

Not when it comes to security clearances. There are certainly some convictions that will disqualify a person from even applying, but also plenty where you could have a misdemeanor conviction in your past and still get a security clearance if it doesn't make you blackmailable.

But they check for things like alcohol abuse, drug habits, sexual behavior, debt, gang affiliations, and any other dark secrets that could make you susceptible to bribery or blackmail. Cause if you have a security clearance and then fall for a foreign honeypot, it's bad news.

Unless you're a billionaire, member of congress, or otherwise born into the political elite, of course. Then they get you with the Israeli honeypot just for good measure, but they'll still give you a security clearance in that case because then they get to control you.

That's why it was such a big deal when trump forced clearances through for all his cabinet picks without proper investigations. Because if proper investigations were actually done, none of them would have qualified...

WesternInfidels@feddit.online · 3 pts · 156d

they check for things like alcohol abuse, drug habits, sexual behavior, debt, gang affiliations, and any other dark secrets that could make you susceptible to bribery or blackmail

Yes. When I was interviewed by the FBI, because a friend of mine was seeking a clearance, this kind of thing was all they wanted to talk about. That was a couple decades ago, though.

Bloefz@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 157d (2 replies)

deacon@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 157d (1 reply)

She may be stupid enough to:

  • Believe this will change the narrative on her relationship with Lewandowski, her profligate spending, and the fact that it all led to her firing
  • Believe this will make her more sympathetic with the public to lay the ground work for having some kind of political career in the future

Or she may be getting ahead of something, maybe her husband was starting to change his tune on the idea of being a loyal cuckold.

If you assume these people are completely vapid, self-serving, and totally incapable of actual loving relationships, and above all - operating with a real deficit of intellectual and emotional intelligence; all of which appear to be rock solid assumptions, none of the options I proposed seem very far fetched.

No not really. They're two separate issues.

This is the problem with conservatives, they're all about loyalty so you must follow the company line or you're out. If someone is marked bad there can't be anything not bad about them. We progressives don't have that.

I can totally accept this kink and still hate Noem. I just can't use it as mud to sling at her but I don't have to because there's plenty of much more relevant wrongdoing she's guilty of. This doesn't even have much to do with her at all.

ickplant@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 157d (1 reply)
