Fuck Politico, Axel Springer and Döpfner. Don't share, don't click.

Why?
I wasn't aware that they're really right-wing
I'm glad to learn something

CEO (Döpfner) is a big promoter of the far right. Calls himself a zionist, too.

Thanks for letting me know!

Not fully correct. He's right wing but not far right. He is an adamant Trump and Netanyahu supporter. So he supports the far right, but he does not share their viewpoints largely. He supports them because he adores the US and Israel.

Bro if you’re a Nazi supporter I’m not going to dither on semantics and will just consider you a Nazi. Based purely on this post he sounds far right to me.

Exactly, nazi bar et all

He's not far right, he supports politicians that are far right.
That has the same energy as 'he not a nazi, he just thinks Hitler is cool.'
rumschlumpel@feddit.org · 6 pts · 143d
That sounds phony TBH. Which viewpoints does he not share, and why the hell would adoring the US make you support Trump (assuming you aren't just a dumbass, which seems unlikely)? It's not like Democrats like Biden and Harris are particularly far left, they even support Netanyahu.

I agree with you, loving the US and Israel means resisting the far right govs. I think it's hard for people to be supportive and critical.

The statement "The CEO is a promoter of the far right" is a fully correct statement. You now arguing "No, he isn't far right" is attacking a statement nobody made here. Take your strawman and get it out.
Pip@feddit.org · -7 pts · 143d
He's a promoter of the US and of Israel. If their govs were center left, he'd still promote them.

Nope. Döpfner explicitly endorsed Trump over Joe Biden during the 2020 election campaign.

Gotcha
I was genuinely curious to know
Pip@feddit.org · -10 pts · 143d
They are right wing but not far right. Their CEO is somewhere in between.

The civilised world just wants America to shut up and go away
This isn't new. It's sad that I remember being horrified at Bush Jr. stealing the election from Al Gore, and now those are considered to be "the good old days"

Starmer said yesterday that the UK is pivoting away from the US to concentrate more on EU relations.

When I was a kid, there was a cranky old guy a few fries short of a Happy Meal in the neighborhood who kept shouting at us when we played in the street under his window. We didn't say anything for a long time, until one of us got really irritated and shouted back to tell him to fuck off. And we were all so tired of being rebuffed that we all joined in, despite being of single-digit age and clearly disrespecting an adult we had no business talking back to like that.
This is what's happening here at states level.

Just a quick technical correction! 😊 You're mixing up the UN and NATO here. The 5-country veto power (US, UK, France, Russia, and China) belongs to the UN Security Council. NATO doesn't actually have a veto system; its decisions are based on consensus among all members
gian@lemmy.grys.it · 1 pts · 143d
I think you are confusing NATO with ONU here.

Anybody read the article and has an opinion on these instituonal alternatives? I think JEF sounds promising
