Not just American ones. We didn't vote for the man who started the war, and we still have to pay more for everything.

Must be the way Californians and New Yorkers feel in America, I guess.

Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works · 31 pts · 132d (5 replies)

Yes. Even the gentle and kind people here in California are full of anger and hatred at this point.

You should hear what these MAGA people say about the situation. My most memorable remark came from a relative I have in Idaho, who told me that she understood how hard it is for people like me (who oppose Trump), because she herself (a perpetually "persecuted" white Christian MAGA voter) lived through Obama's two terms.

That's how these amoral assholes see things. Delusion doesn't even begin to explain what's going on in this country to the red hatted lunatics.

To be fair to her, there was the War on Christmas, fought by replacing Santa on coffee cups with just red color. 🤣

nolannice@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 132d

Please don't downplay the war on Christmas. My friend, a wee cobbler elf, died after a drone strike obliterated a north pole factory retrofitted for small arms manufacturing during the war.

CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 131d

I remember a time when we could not even say "Merry Christmas" as either a service worker or a customer, or else a band of antifa ninjas would come out of the woodwork to send you off to a secular struggle session where you'd be indoctrinated into the Trans Green Energy Climate Change Earth religion. If you resisted, you were made to work to death in an LGBTQ boutique book store.

Obama and Biden both signed these things into law, of course.

Was she put into a detention camp and separated from her family, maybe lose one to a mystery deportation.

CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 131d

It's so wild how they think about Obama and Biden. No cons or xtians were targeted for anything. But they act like they were really put upon in those years.

For what, I have no idea. They never seem to be able to articulate it. They seem very incensed at Obama for reasons, LOL. Biden probably only really gets their ire because their orange jesus was beaten by a guy that was supposedly staying in his basement.

This Texan didn't vote for the child rapist warmonger either. Fucking hate it here.

You are the hope the world will be a better place tomorrow. Blue Texas Forever.

I yearn for the day Blexas becomes more than just a dream

Not me, I’m not buying shit right now. Fuck this economy, I’m not participating in it.

4grams@awful.systems · 8 pts · 132d (2 replies)

I would, but raising three schoolaged kids. Fuck me, never thought this would happen to the world, I was not prepared. Should have had kids 5 years earlier or later…

PalmTreeIsBestTree@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 132d (1 reply)

Or just not have them at all. The world has been on a downward trajectory for the last 10 years or so.

RagingRobot@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 131d

Shh maybe that guy's kid is the one who will fix it lol

cmbabul@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 132d

I scaled back to only necessities for the last 2/5ths of last year, I’m still spending as little as I can on things that aren’t necessary for surviving, but I will admit to having starting going out to like bars festivals and concerts for 2026 when I’m not too depressed to do so. And I 100% support everyone else trying to starve the beast as best they can, I’m also telling as many people as will listen to enjoy the things they can right now, because all of our lives are about to become much much more difficult for the foreseeable future

RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 131d

Yeah, pretty much the same. This has slammed the door on purchasing. The only thing I bought was more garden soil and some seeds to have food I don’t have to buy at the store. Probably didn’t save anything due to the cost of the supplies, but I feel better about it being homegrown.

Complaining about fuel that's sitting at the equivalent of 55p a litre, in the UK it's almost ÂŁ1.70 a litre for petrol.

gAlienLifeform@lemmy.world · 21 pts · 132d (3 replies)

You have to understand how awful our public transportation systems are and how close to broke like 75% of us already were

FatCrab@slrpnk.net · 10 pts · 132d (2 replies)

Nah, you gotta understand how fucking stupid, selfish, and god damned myopic our public in the aggregate is here. A completely mismanaged war of bald aggression that resulted in the double tap murder of 150 school children isn't sufficient to rile them--but paying 50 cents more a gallon at the pump and they'll declare a motherfucking fatwa.

fluffykittycat@slrpnk.net · 7 pts · 132d

That's why I hope gas prices will keep spiraling up, it's the only way Americans will ever learn

IronBird@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 132d

americans have always been selfish, it's baked into the culture at this point.

stumu415@lemmy.zip · 8 pts · 131d (1 reply)

Thank God the rest of the world are paying the tariffs to America. Right????

inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 130d

Of course they are because that's how Republican tariffs work unlike regular tariffs.

Lanske@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 132d

Yeah the world suffers for the actions of a few imbecile white old nazi's. Not only Americans ffs

KulunkelBoom@lemmus.org · 3 pts · 131d

What a fucking shame...

It hit us "plain old plain Jane Americans" the next fucking day...

Etterra@discuss.online · 2 pts · 132d

Because $5 for a donut wasn't expensive enough for some assholes.

inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 130d

Notwithstanding but as an American that didn't vote stupid, I think that the American public deserves what it voted for. I would say the American public would learn but unfortunately with a voter base that averages a sixth grade reading and comprehension level, I don't have low hopes.

Honestly, the people that I actually feel bad for our allies and the rest of the world that did nothing to start this asinine war and are feeling the exact same economic impact.
