treating the IRL daycare like the daycare in Pokemon. If you come back to the daycare years later, you'll have a lvl 100 kid

webghost0101@sopuli.xyz · 100 pts · 132d (2 replies)

Kid evolved into teenager.

Teenager refuses to listen.

1h lunch, that's a lot of time wasted that could have been used for conducting interviews. smh, ppl nowadays don't really know the meaning of commitment.

pixxelkick@lemmy.world · 56 pts · 132d (13 replies)

I mean for what its worth, if the dude has a partner they couldve just picked the kid up, its not exactly unheard of for one partner to do drop off and the other do pick up... kind of a lukewarm take here.

merc@sh.itjust.works · 38 pts · 131d (11 replies)

And the partner did minor things like:

  • get his son dressed and feed him breakfast
  • give the dog its morning walk
  • go to work
  • come home from work
  • pick his son up from daycare
  • give the dog its afternoon / evening walk, bringing the toddler along to spend some quality time in the park
  • make and serve dinner for him / herself and the son
  • give the son a bath and get him ready for bed
  • read the son a bedtime story

But, I'm sure that everything there other than work would have taken what, 1-2 hours at most? Minor things.

Goodlucksil@lemmy.dbzer0.com · -3 pts · 131d (10 replies)

The guy isn't saying what his partner did....

xspurnx@slrpnk.net · 18 pts · 131d (9 replies)

That's the point. Care is work.

merc@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 131d (8 replies)

And it's not possible for the Lunatic to live the way they do unless the partner picks up the slack and does everything else.

boonhet@sopuli.xyz · 3 pts · 131d (4 replies)

I was the exception to that. I worked 14-16 hours per day between my main job and my side gigs for a while and still had to take care of the kids (one mine, one step) at least half the time too. What worked for me was going to sleep at 5 and waking up at 7-8.

My lovely ex-wife, however, slept all night (I had to take breaks from work if the baby needed attention at night) AND took naps during the day along with our baby. I would've liked to sleep more too, but she had a bit of a spending habit, to say the least. We averaged two strollers a month, etc.

Baby is now a toddler and guess who works 50 hours a month and has time and money for the kid and home renovations vs who's unable to pay rent after the divorce. Being the lunatic paid off for me, but not in direct financial gain (anything earned during that era was immediately spent by my ex). Mostly it got me some new connections that appreciate my skills and taught me how much money I could be making per hour if I negotiate well.

Danquebec@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 131d (1 reply)

2 strollers per month?!

Was it an active warzone?

boonhet@sopuli.xyz · 2 pts · 130d

Life with her certainly was lmao

That number might even have been higher, but like half of them were bought used luckily.

Unfortunately no official diagnosis since she claims nothing is wrong with her and everyone else is out to get her instead. But I suspect narcissistic personality disorder and potentially ADHD (she's extremely impulsive and makes/changes long term plans on a whim).

We also had about 20 or 30 car seats all together (including both the infant and toddler variants) and we split up shortly after the kid's first birthday. The winter she was pregnant, she complained about winter jackets being too small or too cold every few weeks, think I bought her a total of 10-15 jackets over one winter. Couldn't get one two sizes up either. Had to be exact fit because "I'll stop growing now anyway". She did not. Went from 70 KG to peak 140 just before birth, claiming she ate nothing.

Lifter@discuss.tchncs.de · 1 pts · 131d (2 replies)

They never say this is done everyday. in dact, I bet it was an extraordinary day since they chose to post about it.

merc@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 131d (1 reply)

In dact, someone who posts about things like this on linkedin is not the kind of person who acknowledges the work that their partner does to make a day like that possible.

Lifter@discuss.tchncs.de · 1 pts · 130d

Sure. I just wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. There is a slim chance that they have a very healthy relationship at home. The mother may also be a LinkedIn lunatic and they take turns with the children.

CompactFlax@discuss.tchncs.de · 39 pts · 131d (10 replies)

14:00-15:00 is the only non-meeting productive work time in the day. 9 hrs of doing interviews seems excessive, but what do I know

UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world · 23 pts · 131d (7 replies)

Also a little odd that he did 6 interviews in 5 hours. How long are these interviews?

Also, as someone who regularly takes his son to daycare (and leaves him there! he needs to learn to hussle his way back home again, I can't be there to helicopter parent!), good luck getting them up, out the door, through traffic, and back to the office again inside 30 minutes.

This guy is doing what I used to get yelled at all the time when I was filling out a time card - block billing. "One task? 1 hr. One hard task? 1.5 hr. One easy task? 30 min."

Clients hate this shit. Real heads know to always randomize a number 1-9 to put in the last digit, so it looks like you actually put in time from a clock rather than rounding to the nearest mark.

My agreement with at least one of my client is that I round up to the next 15 minutes. They know to expect fairly round numbers.

HarkMahlberg@kbin.earth · 3 pts · 131d

At my 9-5, our time keeping software doesn't even let you put in anything smaller than a quarter hour.

UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 131d (1 reply)

I had multiple clients yell at us for this, back when I worked in a contracting job. It was infuriating that we had to play these stupid games.

boonhet@sopuli.xyz · 2 pts · 130d

I have great clients tbf, I acquired them through my past 9-5s so I knew what I was getting into beforehand

andxz@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 130d

It's bullshit from start to finish. Nobody really does hours like this. There'll always be unexpected stuff, it doesn't matter what the job is. You could be President (with an actual serious schedule) and there would still be odd minutes here and there.

Gloomy@mander.xyz · 2 pts · 130d

I do the morning routine with the twins each morning and it takes me at least one hour, sometimes one and a half. And our daycare is like 5 minutes away by bike.

My guess is that this dudes wife gets the son ready and this guy drives him over. Which is by the way the only time during this day he sees his kid.

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 1 pts · 131d

probably less than 1hr each, likely the ones he was going to "reject" if he is the HR manager, regardless of the qualifications of the candidate.

My dog fortunately a) really likes his sleep time, and b) has a bladder the size of a tanker truck. If I take him out at 10pm, he'll go straight to bed and sleep until at least 9am if he's not woken up by us before that.

Evotech@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 131d (2 replies)

Maybe his son has a mother

selokichtli@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 130d (1 reply)

Absolutely, and hopefully living in her own place. This guy works the whole day. He only has half an hour to get rid of his kid and half an hour for his dog's needs.

The place I worked at 3 years ago, someone forgot to drop their kid off and left them in the car in 90 degree heat (freedumb units). I assumed the guy was overworked as hell; that place did not give a fuck about work/life balance, just like most places I've worked here in the land of the slaves and home of the cowardly.

Hadriscus@jlai.lu · 6 pts · 130d (4 replies)

I can't remember what the conversion is so I'll just assume it's 90 celsius and the son cooked to a nice crisp outside, juicy tender inside

Smeagol666@crazypeople.online · 2 pts · 130d (3 replies)

90°F, that's outside. Inside a car, it got to over 120°F (probably). The kid died.

Hadriscus@jlai.lu · 1 pts · 129d (2 replies)

Well shit, I was hoping for a nice denouement

Smeagol666@crazypeople.online · 1 pts · 129d (1 reply)

The lead forklift trainer tried to perform CPR, but the child was too far gone. I think she had to take a few days off.

Hadriscus@jlai.lu · 2 pts · 129d

Yea, I would have had to take those days off too. That's gotta be traumatizing

KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 6 pts · 131d (2 replies)

Funny, but hardly "escaping containment" when the screenshot was doctored to begin with.

The screenshot in the OP, realigning words to show that the font sizes are different from line to line.

asqapro@reddthat.com · 10 pts · 131d (1 reply)

The post is from this Threads account: https://www.threads.com/@finance.arman

I couldn't find the post because I don't have a Threads account myself and it limits how far back on someone's timeline you can go, but the UI and username matches. The original post wasn't in English, so it must have been translated using OCR, resulting in the weird artifacts. You've got a good eye to catch that difference.

HarkMahlberg@kbin.earth · 5 pts · 131d

Ah, see that at least sounds plausible. I've used Google Translate to translate road signage with the camera, and it tries to position and resize text to fit the original sign. So if that kind of technology is happening here, that could make some sense.

...but then why wouldn't you just let the browser translate it for you, since it would normalize the same font size across the entire text? Oh, if they were in the Threads app they wouldn't have they available.

zloubida@sh.itjust.works · 9 pts · 132d

It's not necessarily doctored. It can be a problem with the screenshot.
