Working I'm afraid lovely!

StudChud@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 141d

Awww another time!

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 10 pts · 141d (6 replies)

Off to final interview. Of course it's replacement busses lol

Edit: Also have a band audition next weekend. Thank fuck they provided the guitar notation in advance.

Edit 2: interview went well. It's between me and 2 others. Will find out on Friday.

phant@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 141d (3 replies)

Dope! Good luck.

What genre band?

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 141d (2 replies)

Thanks man :)

It's metal core. I've done this style a lot in the past. It'll be interesting coming back after doing more singer song writer stuff.

phant@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 141d (1 reply)

Noice. I've never played in that sphere before, but did listen to a number of the popular metal core bands 5-10 years ago. Such a fun genre

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 141d

The energy is amazing. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but playing those types of shows, even with a small crowd, is incredible.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 141d (1 reply)

good luck ๐Ÿคž

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 141d

Cheers :) I'm 90 mins early lol

Thereโ€™s a guy I see here and there at the gym, he has an intellectual disability and a support worker who helps him load machines etc. Heโ€™s spoken to me a few times.

This group of teenage boys were staring at him working out on a machine (the form isnโ€™t great but at least heโ€™s doing something while they just laugh at him and sit around on their phones barely doing any working out). And then they mocked the way he walked and all laughing at that. Disgusting behaviour to witness.

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 141d

I have a soft spot for people who are doing their best despite their circumstances.

You're a better man than me, because I would have lost my cool.

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 141d

Can you complain to the staff? That kind of thing can border on be harassment and put someone off coming to the gym (as well as being disgusting bully behaviour).

SaneMartigan@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 141d

I'm with melba about reporting that stuff to the staff.

phant@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 141d

Did a local community radio interview late last night. Couldn't sleep after. Feel like trashhh. Rockin up to work an hour late. Gonna be a goood day...

Bottom_racer@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 141d (2 replies)

Making chilli powder time.

Just need to remember to not touch eyeballs or no no bits for a few days (which invariably will happen).

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 141d (1 reply)

I've done that before when working in hospo. Do not recommend lol

Bottom_racer@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 141d

Hands are on fire atm lol. wore gloves but that went straight through.

SituationCake@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 141d

Went to Book of Mormon over the weekend. Itโ€™s a great show, so many laughs. The actor that played the sidekick (forgot the character name already) was absolutely brilliant.

Alamutjones@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 141d

Last day of my leave. I honestly havenโ€™t got out of bed yet

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 141d (3 replies)

I've decided to just take the bike on the train for April to save my legs. Takes about as long as riding on the bike the whole way, and seems to be about 9kms instead of the usual 15.

So glad I'm not paying for it, to only cover about a third of the trip and not be any faster

SaneMartigan@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 141d (2 replies)

I used to ride Springvale to South Melbourne for work. I tried catching the train to Richmond, it was the same time either way.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 141d (1 reply)

That's quite the distance. Is there at least decent cycling infrastructure to and from?

SaneMartigan@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 141d

Nah, infrastructure was a bit shit. Three's the djerring trail now but it's shared, nicer than being hit by a car though.

_miss_cellophane_@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 141d (8 replies)

I was keen on a Marketplace item. It wasnโ€™t much, $20, despite its value being far more than that. Was scheduled to meet up to collect, but as it got closer to time, the seller took an hour to confirm their address (they kept saying they had bad phone signalโ€ฆbut Iโ€™m not sure what that has to do with en able to confirm your own address), and then switched it up from them being there, to needing to collect from someone else, whoโ€™s number I was given to call when I arrived.

As soon as I expressed concern, they got very defensive and angry. For me, thatโ€™s red flags all over so I noped out and blocked em.

Did I overreact? What would you folks do?

SaneMartigan@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 141d (1 reply)

Marketplace is sketchy, trust your gut.

_miss_cellophane_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 141d

๐Ÿ–ค

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 141d (1 reply)

I'm out at the slightest hint of dodgy. I'd rather over react and miss out on a few items that might have been legit than walk into a bad situation.

Sellers being reluctant to hand over an address in advance is one of my major red flags - I want to be able to check where I am going and let someone else know too. I've had sellers do this whole run around where they won't give you the street number until you say you are in the street. I've no idea how they think that's going to protect them from dodgy buyers, but I'm not following breadcrumbs to walk into a stranger's house. If people are not upfront I just don't deal with them.

People who are very pushy about wanting you to move off the sales platform and phone/text are also a red flag for me. Your phone number is important personal data that it's better to avoid giving out unnecesarily. Especially if you have Pay id linked to it, because then you are also giving out your real name.

_miss_cellophane_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 141d

Thank you. Yeah, I agree and this is really reassuring.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 141d (1 reply)

You did the right thing. The MIL was trying to sell something once and someone tried to pull the classic PayID scam saying their husband worked in the area and would be the one to come pick it up, this was on a Sunday in a suburb with nothing nearby.

Then they said they had trouble transferring money online and if the MIL PayID'd them $1000 this person would send back the money plus the difference.

_miss_cellophane_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 141d

Yeah, as soon as they introduce a third party, I get the wiggins.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 141d (1 reply)

Red Flags. Did not over react. If I had already paid I would be trying to get money back.

regarding the shady behaviour, $20 is not much money . ๐Ÿค”

_miss_cellophane_@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 141d

Yeah nah, I never pay up front. Only cash in person.

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 141d (1 reply)

::: spoiler Dinner worked well tonight.

Pork casserole with apple and sage. The flavours all melded in together very nicely, and I have lots in the freezer for later too.

TheWitchofThornbury2@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 141d (3 replies)

I was wrong. I've just tried the Aldi Madagascan vanilla white chocolate. It's legit good to eat. Far superior to anything Cadbury can come up with. Recommend (grrrrrrr).

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 141d (2 replies)

Iโ€™m so mad all of them have milk. I still remember how good that chocolate is

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 141d (1 reply)

There's a brand called Sweet William that has vegan white choc. I've tried their other choc types and it's not too bad

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 141d

Phone plan recs requested. I decline to accept an extra 15/month for nothing from Craptus. Need near zero calls and Pokemon data...

Pilk@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 141d

I've found ozbargain a great source for plans. I'm now on a 365 day 300 GB Optus plan for what will effectively be $70 ($220 + $150 gift card). Looks like there are a few good options at the moment with Boost, Optus and Vodafone or if you're not in a rush you can keep an eye out.

I'm with Amaysim on a good deal that got grandfathered in from when I was with Jeenee who got acquired by Vaya who then got acquired by Amaysim

Havenโ€™t seen little man but checked the camera and he was hanging out on the back fence this morning. I wonder why he didnโ€™t come round front.

Anyway itโ€™s good to know heโ€™s alright. Fingers crossed he can get his ringworm meds tonight as he wasnโ€™t around to get them last night.

the sun was warm and I walked all the way into the next suburb

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 141d (2 replies)

Oh and I tried out the Anko carpet shampooer. Itโ€™s not bad, I will warn you that it drinks up carpet shampoo fast as the small tank of solution doesnโ€™t go very far.

Just to clean a short diagonal path where it was grubbiest and a few small areas next to it took two fills of the clean solution tank and two empties of the dirty tank. I used half the smallest recommended amount of cleaner on the second tank because that stuff is not cheap.

You can definitely get away with a smaller amount of cleaner and you may want to buy a bigger machine (Anko or not) if you want to do a whole area without constantly stopping to change the tank a bunch of times. I got the little one for price and storage considerations but itโ€™s probably easier as a spot cleaner for small sections.

Donโ€™t set the clean tank on its side while finding the shampoo bottle as it can leak (soaking your carpet).

Itโ€™s also extremely loud. Screamingly loud. My ears were ringing.

But it pulled out a lot of dirt into the water and the spots I did look cleaner. Dried okay as far as I can tell.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 141d (1 reply)

It's hard work and LOUD

I have a system so I don't get the carpets too wet

do 3 passes with shampoo then go to another spot and do 3 passes there, then go back to the first as it's had a little time to soak and draw up the shampoo, I do at least 10 passes and very slowly to get as much water and dirt out as I can

I found a tank of water shampoo mix ( about 1.5 litres) will do about 1.5 m sq

sometimes I just do the walk in areas where the carpets are dustiest

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 141d

Yeah, thatโ€™s a good system. This one is a little awkward though as youโ€™re meant to pull it back while pressing the trigger to spray the shampoo then stop and push it forward to suck the solution back up. So Iโ€™d kind of have to carry it around so the shampoo could sit or walk backwards in S shapes.

I really wanted one of those steam cleaners you see in home reno videos with a wide steam blade and long handle but couldnโ€™t find that type

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 141d (3 replies)

Petrol around here is still about $2.20 a litre, which it has been out this way for the past couple of years. Is the 'price shock' at the moment that people in the SE suburbs have to pay the same as what they've been charging us?

Taleya@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 141d (1 reply)

that's about $2.20 a litre with the excise cut.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 141d

So there has been a slight improvement. I noticed prices were down a few days ago and are back to what they were stinging is before again

If you use it a lot donโ€™t feel guilty getting another. You can have one in the wash and one on, or wear the thinner or thicker according to how cold it is.

With the winter bills you will want warm house clothes

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 141d

I think they are worth every penny, they really keep you warm and I suppose save on utility bills

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 141d
