Here's what I don't understand about the Boomer hate: If all Boomers are lucky and rich-and all of our parents or grandparents are Boomers-should'nt we love boomers? If the stereotype is true, we will eventually inherit their generational wealth.
Mine just go out to eat at the same shitty restaurant everyday and complain that it's shitty. Live in the middle of nowhere, tips less than $5 per table, yeah I wonder why all the waitresses aren't flocking from the 5 star restaurants in the city...
My Dad bought a Porsche less than a month after my Grandma died. She had written she wanted some of her savings to go directly to her grandkids, but it wasn't binding so... And then boomer fathers wonder why their kids hate them ¯\(ツ)/¯
...I am the son that is both able and willing to serve as a care taker. I'm sure my parents get that I'm self-serving, but it beats the hell out of a retirement home. Having one kid without a family doesn't hurt.

And 40s, but to a kid anything over 20 is a senior citizen.

"Back in may day, the Internet came on a CD-ROM from the grocery store."
Accurate, we are senior citizens already.

CDROM? Mine came on a floppy disk. 👴
SethTaylor@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 133d
Floppy disk? If we wanted internet, we had to churn a few Kilobytes of data ourselves

They are aware of it, that's why they are busy spending it.

Mine are gambling literally every day. They have no savings/checkings, and have a second mortgage that they are literally not paying.

Spending it now, or spending it when they're old and infirm and living in hospice where the last of their money gets spent.

Yeah, people seriously underestimate the costs of elder care.

bold of you to assume they can afford hospice.
