Howdy,
A few hours ago, I was smoking a cigarette outside and looking up at the sky. Suddenly, I saw something that looked like this:
· –––––--
A small glowing dot (like a plane light) and a glowing trail
(from the looks of it, it wasn't a meteor)
It moved with the speed of a plane from right to the left.
Maybe Starlink?
I could have checked my ADS-B monitoring for planes but I haven't set that up outside :/ my antenna is also small.

Starlink looks a lot like this when new satellites are moving into their final orbit, basically a string of dots slowly moving across the sky. I happened to see some last winter; it was pretty trippy to watch.

The trail was a single line, not multiple dots though. I asked someone nearby, and the person confirmed he can see it as well.

You'd probably have to doxx yourself a bit to have a chance of a good answer.
Like @Assassassin@lemmy.dbzer0.com suggested, it's probably the future orbital debris that will keep us trapped on this planet no matter what, i.e. satellites. More specifically the ones for internet service in low orbit. When they move into position they often move in a string of pearls formation.
So it's that, aliens, or the unimpressive prelude to our armageddon.

Likely a satellite, there are a metric fuckload out there now. The trail may have just been an illusion caused by persistence of vision. I doubt you'll ever be able to have a 100% answer though, unfortunately.

I'll probably not get an answer what it was but maybe other people have seen this. :)

On the plus side, now you've seen a UFO. Probably not aliens though.

True^^

It's an object, that's flying, and you haven't identified it...
So it's a UFO
What happens when it lands tho? A ULO? (Unidentified Landed Object???)
binaryqueen@programming.dev · 0 pts · 118d
Imagine if it lands and becomes an ULO and someone steals it, it will become a USO.

And then if someone finds it, it'll be a UFO... oh wait...

A brief flash in the sky puzzled people in Switzerland on Friday evening. It’s quite possible that Elon Musk is behind it once again.
It was around 10 p.m. on Friday evening: Anyone who looked up at the sky suddenly saw a glow that disappeared shortly afterward. Online, users are speculating about what it could be. On Reddit, for example, someone posted a video of it from the Solothurn region.
A strange white light can also be seen on webcams at 10 p.m.
What looks like a UFO was most likely the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, Skyguide spokesperson Vladi Barrosa told 20 Minuten. The rocket launched into orbit from Florida on Friday evening carrying 29 satellites.
Since the weather was also ideal, the spectacle was clearly visible.
In August 2024, Starlink had already created a dazzling spectacle in the sky. At that time, a satellite burned up as it entered the atmosphere.
