Trans folks of Lemmy: Did you ever dream having a body which doesn't match your AGAB?

Actually it's not really a single question. I wouldn't even say I ever had a dream in which I knew what biological sex I have. But if you have dreams in which you know your biological sex:

  • Did you ever have a dream where you body matched your gender identity?
  • If so: While still being an egg? Before your transition? After it?

It was actually how I realized I was trans. Had a super vivid dream of being a girl that felt so real. When I initially woke up I was the happiest I'd ever been until I realized it was just a dream and then I was depressed in bed for a few days. Talked to a trans friend later and they referred me to their therapist and now 7 years later here I am :)

That saddened me to hear your dreams were in some ways happier than your waking existence. I’m sorry you went through that and I hope you’re feeling better these days when you wake up to your life.

Thank you <3 like anyone I have good and bad days, but there are a lot more good days than there were before :)

Isn't that always the case? Going off topic, but dreams are often better for me than reality. Once in my dream light yagami killed yoda.

Back when my dreams were more vivid, yes I regularly dreamed of my body matching my gender. I remember waking up as a young kid and being depressed when I realized that it was a dream. So before, during, and this far (15+ years) into my transition I would say yes. My dreams nowadays are way more nebulous than they used to be, but I do occasionally have dreams where I feel more in line with my body, I don't remember specifics though just that I feel far more at peace with it.

Yes, from all the way back in elementary school, long before I knew that trans people existed.

Frequently. It was actually one of the signs I ignored for years.

Not that I'm aware of, I don't think I've ever remembered one of my dreams.

I legit feel bad for you if this is true. Remembering dreams is so cool. It's amazing to see the bizarre shit your mind comes up with while you sleep. I don't remember all my dreams but I do remember at least the last dream I had before waking fairly often.

Yeah, I just go to bed and at some point it's the morning pretty much. Dreams sound like they'd be really cool though.
