Old man here. I wear a kilt every day, I don't even own pants anymore. I call it a skirt because it makes other people uncomfortable in the best sort of way. Fuck 'em if they don't like it.

In Germany, the time which could make a skirt useful, are about 1-2.5 months out of 12 months.
Every other day outside of late June to early September are cold, wet and uncomfortable.

I don't mind at all. You can't really see much which is my intention. I have a severe anxiety so my skin mostly covered up is extremely comforting to me.

Just a "good for them" and "I applaude them protesting by overcoming gender norms" are IMO better than the ones we are discussing right now.

How is it intolerant to say that wearing a skirt doesn't really need to have anything to do with gender? In this case it was since it was more comfortable in the heatwave and as a form of protest.

I was wondering how many of those kids have started their journey in self actualization; figuring out things about themselves; their needs and desires. It makes me happy thinking of people learning to accept themselves for who they are; and that's it. Ironically, the only creeps are you two weirdos who immediately jump to to condescending, indirect accusations of paedophilia, obviously so discomforted with their own sexualities they feel the need to lash out at the mere mention of childhood sexual development.
FYI paedophilia only affects less than a percent of the global population; although this number seems a lot larger depending on the media you consume or the people you talk to. Rather, how distorted your world view has become due to a few extremely wealthy people controlling all of the media companies that create that media.

Gender is the norms society associates with sex. A lot of modern things associated with gender are just the product of marketing campaigns: pink as a "girl color" was a marketing push in the early 20th century. Pants are a more recent popular product than people like to admit with kilts, tunics, togas, robes, etc having been male attire until like 1500 AD.
Sexualizing clothing, colors, and now boutique cosmetic surgery (specifically mar a lago face, for instance) etc is some freak shit that 'conservatives' do to virtue signal about what good little boys they are because they follow the inane gender codes created by marketing and fads.
Not much interested in wearing skirts.
But those look honestly kinda cool (heh. Cool because they are breathable in summer) and they rock it very well.
Schools are a grest lesson in institutional power.
When the institution has the ability to implement whatever it wants on those within it, it will put massive inconveniences on them to save on the smallest inconveniences for itself.
Presumably they thought shorts didn't look smart enough on the kids, and so implemented a rule without considering (or caring) what effects it had beyond those it intended.

Quite literally why kilts, the Arabic Thawb, etc are a thing, it is the superior form for mobility and temperature regulation.

Skirts are for everyone. They are functional. help with swamp ass, allow for easy leg movement and assert dominance if the fabric pattern is bold.
Only real downside is chub rub if you got thick thighs. They make thigh covers for that though.
