In the latest episode of "they will always sell you out" - they sold you out! Who would've thought.
Hoping for a good alternative client to appear, the writing is on the wall. Vaultwarden can't exist without "leeching" off of Bitwarden.

MBAs ruin everything they touch.

I saw the term MBAssholes being used lately and really love it.

I canceled my BW sub and made the move to Proton when I saw this yesterday. I went through the enshitification of 1PW and won't hang around for the sequel.

What's going on with 1pass?
Horsey@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 95d
1P 7.0 moved to electron, which means sub-native performance and higher RAM usage. They removed their lifetime sub payment and stranded their lifetime users on 6.0 . I left right after the removal of lifetime subs.

I disagree. The article is just someone's opinion. As a previous customer, there is a smell to these things. First, it's the complimemts to the fascist. Then, the pivot to AI. There is virtually little support on Linux. Next will be the policy changes. I jumped off ship. The article reads like an AI piece. May not be, but the author seems sketch, only one post. I see the nuance, I'm just not convinced.

It was too good to last. They enshitify everything.

Hmm 🤔
Seems I will have to search for alts to Vaultwarden

VaultWarden is still fine and unaffiliated. Should they change the official Bit warden client to no longer work with that back end, there will be solutions.

That is great news.

Just switched today from bitwarden to this setup, so far I like it!

Sometimes you'll get a sync conflict file. You can merge databases together if there's ever a discrepancy between syncs.

Thanks for the heads up

Does keepass still get maintained?
Also one of the things I like about 1p is that mfa is required if I log in on a new machine. Im not sure how id emulate that with keepass

You can use a yubikey or a custom file to be provided when you open the database. It's a kind of MFA.

I’ve been using proton pass for a while now while keeping my subscription going for Bitwarden. Ended that one today. Keeping an eye on Alias Vault to see how its future security audit pans out.

I got short memory problems... Yeah so this is why I got to install aliasvault and stalwart.
