Very cool, but maybe don't show it to your therapist.

BazaarMonk@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 93d

Haha thanks! I'll keep this one a secret

This makes me think of the shrike in Hyperion! Great work op thanks for sharing

prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 92d

Damn I didn't see this comment and just said the same thing lol

Massive "trees" made of writhing human flesh. Definitely an image that sticks with you lol

BazaarMonk@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 93d

Oh cool! I'm happy to hear that. And thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot! I researched a bunch of different hand poses. I used the pit of hands to practice drawing a variety of hand poses. Starting at the front and just drawing back until the entire pit was filled.

Looks really cool

BazaarMonk@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 93d

Thanks a lot! I appreciate it.

Very cool. Serious question as a non-artist who really admires it:

When you have an image fixed in your mind, and a blank page in front of you, what's the first mark you put on the paper? Where do you start?

BazaarMonk@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 93d (2 replies)

Thanks a lot! That is a really good question as I believe the first mark is the most important, especially if you want to keep the drawing symmetrical without overflowing the edges of the paper. I actually start with a dot in the very center of the paper and work out from there. The first mark for this drawing was the skull and face area.

BarneyPiccolo@lemmings.world · 2 pts · 93d (1 reply)

Interesting, that makes sense. I can see starting from one corner, or edge, or with your favorite element, or whatever. I'd probably start from one corner, get lost in drawing leaves or grass or something, and completely forget what my main thing was before I got there.

I'm a musician, so none of that is a mystery to me, but I find visual arts nearly miraculous.

Really nice work.

BazaarMonk@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 93d

Awesome, I'm happy to hear that. I love working with musicians on visuals for album art, you guys have such a great gift and the back and forth between lyrics and themes to create visuals is a pleasure.

prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 4 pts · 92d (3 replies)

My first thought was The Shrike from Hyperion

BazaarMonk@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 92d (2 replies)

Nice! I'm happy to hear that.

prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 91d (1 reply)

Are you though?

BazaarMonk@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 91d

Yup! Drawing dark and twisted shit is my idea of fun.

southsamurai@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 93d (1 reply)

Five of swords tarot vibe

BazaarMonk@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 93d

Awesome! That's great to hear.

this would SLAP with this image as the cover

BazaarMonk@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 93d (4 replies)

Sick! That would be awesome.

hateisreality@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 92d (3 replies)

I'm at Deathfest this weekend.... definitely a bunch of bands could elevate their album covers with this

BazaarMonk@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 92d (2 replies)

Sick! Have fun there.

hateisreality@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 92d (1 reply)

I love your work and would love a piece for myself if you sell your work...

And definitely having fun... getting ready for Pig Destroyer!

BazaarMonk@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 92d

Awesome, that's really great to hear! Yes, I have prints and originals available. The link to my etsy shop is in my profile, but I will also message you directly. And sick! Pig Destroyer is awesome.

Thought 1: That setting kinda reminds me of pat of the quarters you get as the Arch-Mage of the College of Winterhold in Skyrim.

Thought 2: So many hands! This image is both full of stuff that a generative model would suck at drawing, while also being a trap for us nerdy humans to examine them looking for AI screwups.

Awesome job!

BazaarMonk@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 92d

Thank you so much! I totally agree about the AI thought, it has ruined the art atmosphere online.

LSNLDN@slrpnk.net · 3 pts · 93d (3 replies)

Oh my this makes me want to start a band that could live up to this as album artwork

BazaarMonk@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 93d (2 replies)

Do it! Please hire me. I would love to create album artwork.

LSNLDN@slrpnk.net · 2 pts · 92d (1 reply)

No word of a lie if I ever make music worthy enough then I will be in touch! This piece is awesome

BazaarMonk@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 92d

Awesome! That would be sick. Reach out anytime.

solidheron@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 93d (1 reply)

I think they're dead in another plane of existence

BazaarMonk@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 93d

You're totally right! The title of this piece is Hell via Limbo, so I drew it as a soul that is currently in limbo and will be dragged down into Hell.

crapwittyname@feddit.uk · 2 pts · 92d (1 reply)

I love this. I don't know why, but I love it. It's like looking at a Beskinski, or reading Lovecraft. It taps into a really primal part of my imagination. Thanks for sharing

BazaarMonk@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 92d

Awesome, thanks for your kind words. Huge fan of both those you mentioned, so I'm happy to hear that.

kerrigan778@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 92d (1 reply)

You okay buddy?

BazaarMonk@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 92d

Haha doing fine! Thanks for asking.
