Now, wait just a minute. We're twice as smart as the people of Shelbyville. Just tell us your idea and we'll vote for it.

I don't know, they got duped into a junk monorail. Just took a catchy song.

It's almost like the tech companies are preying on places that have cheap land and residents with less political influence...

Jesus, at least the meat packing plants and shingle factories employed people they were poisoning.

There is a shockingly high percentage of homeowners who sincerely believe that renters should have fewer rights. The most common seem to be that they shouldn't get to vote in local elections and that they shouldn't be allowed to park their cars on public streets.

renters are second class citizens in the USA, for sure.

not owning a home is considered a failure, like not going to college, or not being rich.

Also keep in mind that many people rent for much of or all of their lives, even if they remain in the same area.

Bribeable officials appears to be the key ingredient for ideal sites for data centers.

Sounds like the Mayor of Shelbyville is volunteering to have the data centre in their backyard

That's the sort of thing that happens when you found a town specifically so you can marry your cousins.

Those sorts of people still have access to cans of gasoline and more motivation to prevent such places from existing.
