because it's a projection. the women who complain about men being like that... are mostly talking about themselves.

i've dated many women who thought that way... and they are talking about themselves. they see the world through an adversarial lens and everything is about them having power over others and being terrified of anyone having power over them.

and if you explain to them you don't want any power over them they simple don't believe you. they think it's a lie or a manipulation tactic.... because that's how they treat everyone, through lies and manipulation. and no matter how honest you are with them... doesn't matter because they don't believe honesty exists.

all the shit i can afford that i never dreamed of even having.

curse of low expectations I guess.

But I'd be super depressed that I never found a partner or had a family. Half a lifetime ago i was dating someone I thought I'd marry and have a family with... then she turned out to hate me and children. And sadly ever I met since her also hated me and children... so better off being single than being with someone who hates me.

fundamentally disagree. People are not unique. They want to be unique, for sure, but they are far more similar than they'd like to admit, and micro-labels are a great way to creation 'ego preservation' to feel like one is more unique than actually is, and that someone makes one more valuable and special, internally. And for people with fragile egos, these labels are highly important and they require other people to acknowledge the identity label.

And when they are common enough parlance people will force them on you, whether you agree or identify with them or not. But at that point it's mostly them projecting their own label-insistence onto you.

For some folks labels are pointless, but for some they are fundamental and deeply emotional.

Personally I don't quite get the labeling thing... for me it makes more sense to just name the behaviour, but people love their shorthands, and in my own personal experience, people often use labels to skirt around naming their actual behaviors. It's a great coping mechanism that way.

Define 'basic respect'.

Because it's going to vary a lot depending on people's preferences, backgrounds, and etc.

Personally I don't see LGBT+ people as monolithic in anything... they are just people. They all have their own biases, hatreds, preferences, etc. And plenty of LGBT+ people hate other LGBT+ people for stupid reasons. I find the concept of LGBT+ as some sort of 'bloc' utterly weird, and if you look at like data about it, it isn't really a unified group in anyway.

I've never seen many commonalities in belief or behaviour of LGBT+ people. If you break it down further, yeah, sure, there are.

No, there isn't.

But keep telling me how my experience is wrong. And PC gaming is supposedly this flawless experience.

Even though I recently helped two other people setup gaming PCs and they constantly have headaches or have entire games they can't play due to technical issues or have to wait months for a patch before a game can be played. Or they want to play old games and they just don't work without hours of custom work to get them to load.

there are tons of compact suvs and sedans at that price point. almost every major brand makes them.

the issue is people don't want them because they are 'too small' or 'don't feel safe'. they would rather pay 50K for a big ass car and whine about it then buy one that's half the cost and 2/3 of the size. And almost all of them are just commuting to work in it, they will never ever use the extra space or capacity of the larger vehicle. and if you argue with them and point this out, they will tell you what a stupid ignorant asshole you are and how they 'need' a 50K car, and they couldn't possibly ever buy a shitty small car like a Civic. And most of them will go further be like 'well i can only afford the 50K car, but I REALLY WANT the 80K car.' Tons of people buy these 80K 3-row SUVs and whine about how expensive they are, when they absolutely positively have no actual need for a vehicle that large. but psychologically they need it because it's a status symbol and reflection of their 'pride and value' of themselves.

you can get a brand new HRV or Civic for 24-26K, but people refuse to buy those cars, they want the Passport which is 45K to start.

fwiw i drive a 10 year old hatchback and people endless tell me shit like 'you have no self-respect if you drive such a shitty small car'. and i ask them what car I should get then, and they always say 'audi/bmw 5/7 series SUV'. Because it's not about the utility or use, it's all about the fragile image they are protecting by owning a large expensive vehicle.

so if i don't want to spend 2 hours installing custom drivers to play a game I lack skill?

I think you mean patience. 2 hours installing custom driver is 2 hours I am not playing the game. I don't know about you, but I have better shit to do with those 2 hours and many other interests besides configuring a computer I'd rather spend those 2 hours on.

The Identity Trap.

great discussion about how identity politics came out of no where and took over the world in a few short years. and how utterly awful it is and why it makes everyone so hateful and violent.
