The day I pulled up to a campsite and saw a tent with a hole cut in the bottom so they could fit an A/C through. Who wants to listen to that all night?

They can be very quiet nowadays. I have a minisplit thats whisper quiet and I cant hear over my fans that I also run to move the air around

The AC sound is preferable to the sound of my sweat dripping into a puddle when it's 90F in the tent, (that's 32.2 in water obsessed units) and 90RH.

Now, the gas generator sounds... (Solar batteries for camping exist now, so at least that is less of a problem)

I... Huh. We have a little shoe pocket (the instructions call it a vestibule) in our tent. I've been wanting to add solar power to the equipment. A little a/c unit with hoses would work pretty well through that "vestibule" if I could seal up the mesh windows on the tent.

Me, having air air heat pumps for heating. Lucky coincidence they are not only very efficient in heating, they saved my life with 40°C out there

we've got an air source heat pump. how does it help with high temperatures?

vapeloki@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 68d (1 reply)

Heat pumps are just ACs that heat. We can switch ours between heating in cooling

hmmm i think yours is better than ours. thanks for the reply

I only bought a mobile unit in an emergency, because we couldn't open the balcony at night anymore - because kittens

It's better, but I'm still feeling massively too hot

Will probably upgrade to something more efficient and gift this one to my cousin - which is suffering in the top floor of an old building with old windows

it's all i have now is a 'portable' one with the vent running to the window. the cheap window units just don't last, was buying a new one every couple years. very small flat, so it's enough.

the neighbor, in a similarly-sized space has two window units in now, side by side (and inside, they'd be in the same room). it looks absolutely ridiculous from the outside.

It's a Samsung, it probably doesn't work.

Edit: it's also filthy, so my first thought but double.
