Looking for local music player

Looking for something similar to Fooyin. I've been having issues with songs starting, then 4 seconds in restarting before playing all the way through. Don't seem to have this issue with anything else but I can't figure out how to fix it and I'm not particularly attached to Fooyin anyway. Have used deadbeef in the past and might switch back to it but wanted to reach out to see if anyone has other suggestions.

Ideally there would be basic tagging features and the ability to search for lyrics.

(edit: I updated Fooyin and it actually fixed the problem. Will keep the post up just in case someone suggests something I've not heard of that might suit my needs better. <3)

I use Strawberry

I wish they would get the rest of Clementine transferred over. I still use Clementine, it's more feature rich.

Seconded

Audacious is my favorite music player and it still supports the old winamp skins for those feeling nostalgic. It does tagging fine, not sure if there is a lyrics plugin but it does support tons of codecs and net radio streaming.

Pretty sure audacious does indeed have a lyric plugin that can look up the lyrics for you. I don't think it does timed lyrics though.

Not too bad. Is there anyway to setup crossfade?

myrmidex@belgae.social · 2 pts · 50d

Look into Mixxx if you're looking for crossfading. It's a DJ mixer type software, it can loop, auto-dj, auto sync bpms, and that's just what I discovered in the first week of using it. Only downside for me is the lack of navidrome support, but that shouldn't bother you.

EDIT: as for tagging, I use beets. Could go Picard if you want a GUI.

Probably, check the available plugins.

If you are not afraid of terminal, mpd + ncmpcpp :)

This looks like something I'd like. I'll check it out, thanks!

Not sure how well it fits, but I tried astra based on a lemmy thread, and it's pretty good so far

I like Aqualung. Works well enough for what I do. Has the slightly unusual feature of accepting LADSPA plugins. I don't do much tag editing, but the basic functions are there.

I think i like strawberry the best out of the ones i've tried (i also tried deadbeef and audacious). Maybe it's an issue with my distro's package, but strawberry didn't want to play CDs anymore, which is pretty much the only thing i use these players for now, cause i have my music collection hosted with navidrome and then stream it with supersonic. So now i use audacious instead. I usually like to play a CD directly and listen to it before i rip it, so that's why i still want that functionality occasionally.

Quick question, does Fooyin export id3 tags? I've been looking for a player or tool that exports tags in batches.

Vinyl works good for me but hasn't been updated in a while. https://f-droid.org/packages/com.poupa.vinylmusicplayer/

MPV, VLC, AIMP kid3, MiXplorer for tagging haven't played around with lyrics that much
