Many people, perhaps most people, operate primarily on the emotional level. That's one of the big problems facing humanity.

They're gonna be real mad when they find out how American flags are properly disposed of.

ramble81@lemmy.zip · 17 pts · 28d (1 reply)

And funny enough, they couldnt care less how (or more so where) most American flags are made.

some_designer_dude@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 28d

I assumed they were all hand stitched by American inmates.

Ultra-nationalist care.

queermunist@lemmy.ml · 10 pts · 28d (3 replies)

It's a political statement, and people get really fucking mad about politics.

grue@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 28d (2 replies)

Which is all the more reason law enforcement should not have cared.

queermunist@lemmy.ml · 5 pts · 28d

Law enforcement are people too, sort of.

Usually people with really bad politics.

But to a bunch of want-to-be-nazis this would be a more serious crime than just about anything else.

Illinois state legislature cares, and that's the reason Mellott was arrested (though the police later said they'd done it for his own safety, because of the hostile Facebook comments he was receiving).

The judge ruled the statute unconstitutional and therefore unenforceable.

Cruxifux@feddit.nl · 8 pts · 28d

Yeah I’ll never understand. It seems so fucking stupid.

rbos@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 28d

As long as it's your flag. Don't just grab a random one. Pro tip!

Infinite money hack.

Burn flag, get falsely arrested, sue, win lawsuit, burn flag...

ramble81@lemmy.zip · 47 pts · 28d (2 replies)

There was a black guy who sued a bank for some racist actions they took while trying to deposit a check. He won, and when he went to deposit the settlement check, another bank did the exact same thing.

grue@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 28d (1 reply)

I remember hearing about that. Do we know if the second bank has also lost a lawsuit yet?

BewareOfIdiot@nord.pub · 9 pts · 28d

Yeah, and he won and went to deposit at a third bank, but then ........ Nah but it would've been most hilarious story if true

/2017. I wonder what he’s up to, nearly a decade later.

Edit: actually, the initial arrest was barely over a decade ago.

rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 7 pts · 28d

That's the exact correct response. They knew the assignment and passed it flawlessly
