Killed my second bottle of Oleo toner this morning. I still really love this stuff.
I'm on the fence on The Distiller. I don't particularly like the scent off the tub, but it was pretty nice to shave with. TBD whether I keep it or move it along.
I've been lazy with logging my shaves recently. This shave was an attempt to refresh myself during the latest heatwave. It was a good shave, but my refreshment has faded quickly.
No, I use a hanging strop - no issues there. The razor had a bad accident 2 years ago (50cm free fall into the sink), but I had Boris de Rivière regrind it, and I'm happy with how it shaves now.
And every time I use it, I hesitate to hesitate to comission a River Razor 😎
I see. I was wondering because there seems to be some kind of paddle strop behind it in the pictures and I have seen traditional kamisori guys preferring paddle strops. Scary story, luckily it ended well. In the beginning of my straight razor journey I dropped my grandfathers razor on the bathroom tiles. My heart also dropped I think. Luckily only the very tip had a small chip. Since then I have been a lot more careful!
Had a really good shave. For reasons I had more days of growth than normal. Was getting really itchy. Also I have a new brush that I used today for the first time. It has a big knot compared to my old one. Getting the soap loaded was a bit difficult because of the bulb shape. But after that it made a lot of lather. I didn't have room on my face anymore and all of the sudden it flung around onto my chest and arms lol. The edge felt good and the results are very good. My old brush costs 3.99 euro and has been used 73 times for a very good 5.47 cents per use. It is an ok brush but the problem is it sheds hair every time 😅. I will use it a lot less now but I will still aim to use it 80 times by the time it is one year old. That will push the cost per use under 5 cents which somehow pleases me.
The backbone is very strong indeed. It basically doesn't splay under normal pressure. That made loading soap a bit difficult for me, but after that on the face it is quite nice. I have been doing more sideways action and less circle action lately anyway. I still have to learn the brush to get the best results.

Enjoyable shave! I really like the scent of Y&IwD. Tusk has a lot of fans. I've always though it's decent, but has different priorities than what I typically look for :smile:.
This razor was relatively comfortable and close. One day I'm going to replace the scales on it -- these ones are bent and get in the way of the blade closing.
Razor: F. Koeller Paramount 9/16 Hollow Ground Square Point
Lather: Haku - Reborn - Soap
Toner: Thayers - Cucumber - Toner
Aftershave: Haku - Reborn - Aftershave
Fragrance: Haku - Reborn - Cologne
2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.
The Wagyu soap base that Sean put into his first product release is terrific for edge testing, and this shave was a test of a Nakayama Jnat edge on this Paramount razor. This is a narrow razor, and as with all straights with these dimensions, you need to pay attention to how maneuverable it is in order to get the most out of it. This takes experience, but I seem to get most of these 5/8 and below razors from those new to straight razor shaving. However, one could easily argue that if you start with a razor like this one, and develop deep experience with it, moving to wider razors will be a piece of cake.

How do you like the Trafalgar T3? I have that brush and enjoy it, though I typically prefer something with less backbone.

Good point on the technique that it favors. I've heard that in general, Simpson makes brushes that are good for painting, not splaying.
