Tactical gear dudes are so funny "I have this bullet proof helmet and vest, and I have these sunglasses for visibility and protection" (goes on to shoot a watermelon)
idk what gun channels you watch but every guntuber ive seen at a minimum has in ear pro, as well as usually over the ear protection as well. They take it off when doing their explanations and talking but by that point the firearm is cleared and set down on a table, not actively being fired.
Well, if you're gonna test equipment, might as well know what it's like to use it in full gear like you most likely would in the field. Can't fault the idiot for that. If he fired it naked, you complain about that too.
Between naked and tactical gear there is a middle ground of just proper ppe like long clothing (stupid to have short sleeves unless you want a nice shell burn) actual safety glasses, maybe gloves
I’ve seen enough /morbidreality and the like to know that body armor has a limited success rate. It’s better than nothing, but anything of sufficient energy won’t be stopped, and there’s a lot of unprotected area.
The gravy seals wearing their tacticool wannabe IOTV to the range says a lot about the expected intelligence of the group at the range as a whole.
And similar to guns, they should take old people’s drivers licenses away at a certain age, but they are such a huge voting block, the politicians wouldn’t dare. Plus we have very little public transportation because we spend all our money on war and graft and corruption.
100% that old people should have to take more frequent driver assessment tests. Maybe one at 65 years old. One at 69, one at 73, then every year or two after. You could probably create a simple driving simulator that tests sign reading ability and reaction times.
I've known some older people in their mid 80s with perfectly fine reactive times and mental ability, but I've also known some in their mid 60s who probably should have surrendered their license when they hit 60.
Oh I'm one of those folk who probably should never have been given a license. I'm sure I've gotten better over the years, but that's beside the point, which is that I don't need a license for my trike.
No shit amount of customer at the insurance company I work for over the age of 80 is to fucking high. I talk to a 97 year old yesterday adding a new car. Like who the fuck sells this person a car. They could barely talk to me. I hate to be around them driving.

Eye protection is key. And then almost none of the idiots wear ear protection, and put on the helmet and bulletproof vest instead lol.

To be clear, I mean the less reputable larpers- the ones I called "idiots". Mostly the manosphere types that periodically show off guns.
I agree, most of the people I've seen that are more a part of the firearm community proper conduct themselves properly around firearms.

That's because it actively hurts your ears if you are firing without ear protection.

How fast would this LARPer claim bone spurs when he is called up for military service in the Iran war?

Unfortunately in my experience people like this would be more than willing to go kill others overseas.

Americans allowing almost everyone handgun ownership is the stupidest thing ever.
I don't trust 3/4 of the population with a car let alone a handgun.

Darwinian selection. Anyone stupid enough to hang with this douchnozzle, or go to a club so reckless kinda asked to get shot.

There's not many countries where you can own that type of weapon
SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 45d
In USA, anyone can own a flame thrower, completely unregulated. Also, bazookas are legal to own.

redsand@infosec.pub · -9 pts · 46d
No there's not. That's a guy with a camera and a vacuum insulated drink cup. Maybe some soft cases on the table... Where the fuck are you seeing oil?
Crozekiel@lemmy.zip · 9 pts · 46d
Pretty sure that was a joke about 'merica going to war over oil. Like crude oil, not canola...
