So you still consider yourself as being primarily comprised of liberal democracies? That doesn't sound like what I thought that was supposed to be like.
The chat control 1.0 has been ongoing for a while, the recent vote was to end it, it also affects unencrypted chats and in countries that adhere to it(could be wrong about last part), although I'm not sure if group chats are encrypted on WhatsApp
