Lotion: Humble Bee Botanicals Calendulove Face Cream
Fragrance: Farmcraft VT Signature Fragrance
1st pass WTG, 2nd pass XTG. Comfortably close shave. The unscented Catie's Bubbles works the best for my face out of any soap I have used so far - a revelation. These fragrances have been irritating my face more than I have understood ever since my youth.
My last few shaves were also with this unfragranced soap but I forgot/didn't have time to post them. They were not glamorous shaves - the last one I didn't even use a shaving brush for, just my fingers 🫣 and it still ended in less irritation than I expected. So I will probably never buy shave soap with fragrance in it again.
Post Shave: Australian Private Reserve - Raconteur - Aftershave
Post Shave: Oleo & Company Soapmakers - Facial Toner
This razor used to suck. I had trouble honing it to a good edge, and I questioned the quality of the steel. I kept at it with a little inspiration from our resident expert @gcgallant@wetshav.ing, and this last honing finally clicked! I must have finally fixed the geometry, and I've gotten 3 stellar shaves in a row with it. Super close, super comfortable. Very gentle and effective.
I'm very happy with all of my razors now that I've set the Gold Dollar aside. My next project will be replacing scales on 1 or 2 of them, possibly including this Worcester. The scales are in good shape actually, so maybe I'll just re-pin. It needs washers to make it firm, but not sticky to open.
That's a great feeling when, all of a sudden, a razor comes alive. I had this with my Heljestrand MK 31. I knew it had issues when I got it, but was hesitant to be too aggressive in removing them. I rehoned it 3 times, and on the third test shave I could not believe how good it was. It's like finding treasure you didn't know you have.
Aftershave: Barrister and Mann - Seville - Aftershave
2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.
I always forget just how good Seville is. It is easily a soap that I could use everyday.
I have had this Twig for 6 years. I bet it has been 5 years since I used it last. But it totally delivers on its promise; great balance and a light, maneuverable head. And this is a razor that has enough blade exposure and blade gap to allow me to find my preferred angle by feel.
I really like this scent. My teenager claims it smells like mint. My wife says root beer.
I'm not quite fond of this base, but it's my first time with it. It has structure in the bowl but quickly dissipates on my face. It was slick throughout the shave and left my face feeling good. I'll use the more-soap-less-water maneuver next time.
