There is no way in hell a billionaire in this oligarchy will ever come close to a felony conviction.

DioramaOfShit@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 39d

Trump is a convicted felon

quick_snail@feddit.nl · 5 pts · 40d

I could see him getting convicted, but not spending any time in prison.

DarkCloud@lemmy.world · 32 pts · 40d (2 replies)

Be fucking serious, there's no potential of jail here. In 2007 they gave Epstein a do-jail-from-home day release program for raping kids. He did jail from his home office.

...if you think they're going to give the world's richest man jail time, then you don't understand Capitalism.

sifar@lemmy.ml · 7 pts · 40d

then you don’t understand Capitalism

…and American "democracy" and their "constitution".

I mean people seem to forget it was founded by a bunch of folks who were not driven by the fervour for the motherland or their fellow humans and their emancipation …. but they wanted "the freedom" (no no no, not the "freedom" freedom) but freedom from taxes, freedom to own and trade slaves, freedom to massacre the "native Americans" and entirely disenfranchise them (if somehow they escaped the massacres), freedom to make a capitalist world where the few rich literally and legally own the majority poor and middle class (via owning the resources and power) - so the American freedom! It's vastly different from what freedom is/was considered in the rest of the world.

quick_snail@feddit.nl · -1 pts · 40d

I think you're confusing jail and prison.

wakko@lemmy.world · 19 pts · 40d (1 reply)

All this means is Phony Stark won't ever set foot in Wisconsin again.

UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 40d

He's not going to be touched. This is all talk

SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml · 18 pts · 40d

Donald Trump is an adjudicated serial rapist.

He was booked Thursday, August 24 2023 at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, Georgia.

He is inmate # P01135809.

He is currently at large and considered dangerous. Hide your children.

He has NOT served ANY jail time.

SO...even if you can convict Elon...

bigbangdangler@reddthat.com · 18 pts · 40d

Yawn.

Nothing. Ever. Happens.

The rich live without consequences, and we get scraps of "he faces a threat", "he was slammed", "he falters", "he was put on notice", etc. These stories are designed to quell action by the populace by empty claims that action is already occurring. There is otherwise no real threat to any of these rich assholes.

quick_snail@feddit.nl · 17 pts · 40d (3 replies)

Do we have a single example of a billionaire who served time in prison (prison, not jail)?

dan1101@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 39d (2 replies)

Bernie Madoff is the last one I know of: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernie_Madoff

But it's exceedingly rare.

deathmetaldawgy@lemmy.ml · 5 pts · 39d

His cremation was contrary to traditional Jewish custom and his ashes went unclaimed by his family; as of 2023 his cremains are still in a lawyer's office.

God damn, what a sad, pitiful ending. I bet most billionaires’ will end the same. Its like the poetic ending of a Scorsese movie… or a Better Call Saul episode 😂

quick_snail@feddit.nl · 3 pts · 39d

Ah, yeah, but his prosecutors were other billionaires, so it makes sense.

Nonconfrontational@lemmy.ml · 17 pts · 40d

No it doesn't lol.

No way in hell America locks up someone that rich.

return2ozma@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 40d (2 replies)

His office must report within 40 days on any action it takes, although that deadline doesn’t require a final decision.

The referral is not a criminal charge or a finding that Musk is guilty. But election bribery is a Class I felony in Wisconsin, punishable by up to three and a half years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both.

NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 40d

Million dollar bribes, max fine 10k. 😭

DarkCloud@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 40d

Get fucking serious with your prison time idea. You're living in lala land thinking that.

FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 40d

Even if he's convicted, I expect zero consequences

There's no such thing as justice in 'Murica

DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 40d (1 reply)

The filthy rich only face consequences if they harm other filthy rich assholes.

anotherspinelessdem@lemmy.ml · 6 pts · 40d

If even that.

nymnympseudonym@piefed.social · 9 pts · 40d (2 replies)

Don't stop this is the hottest pr0n

Say the part about Musk in jail again, I'm so close

DickFiasco@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 40d (1 reply)

He goes to prison and gets Epsteined the day before his release.

nymnympseudonym@piefed.social · 1 pts · 40d

finally!

thank you

Abyssian@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 40d

I'm sure it does. Definitely real jail time on the table for him. For sure. No way around that. It's not like hundreds of billions of dollars can keep you out of jail. Bet he's super worried.

BigMacHole@thelemmy.club · 7 pts · 40d

But RICH people CANT go to Jail!

dropdrip@lemmy.ml · 5 pts · 40d (3 replies)

Well Americans... you have plenty of guns in private hands... you only seem to use them though for shooting blacks, paper-targets and children...

quick_snail@feddit.nl · 0 pts · 40d (2 replies)

Luigi begs to differ.

Also I think we shot like 6 US presidents?

Nonconfrontational@lemmy.ml · 4 pts · 40d (1 reply)

All of them should be shot with a ball of their own shit, 6 is far too low a number for that procession of war criminals.

quick_snail@feddit.nl · 2 pts · 39d

Nah, better to shoot them with a ball of someone else's shit who recently ate taco bell.

Full of parasites.

sifar@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 40d

Please don't tease.
