good alarm notification sounds for waking up

Anybody have good mp3 files to use as alarm sounds?

If the sound is too annoying I will turn it off right away and go back to sleep.

I usually take a while to wake up so very short ones dont work too well for me.

Sometimes I want gentle and other times more aggressive so all moods are welcome.

To directly share files, you can upload them to a temporary file hosting service like https://upload.disroot.org/ and post/pm a link.

If you have one that came with your phone but can't access the file to share (or dont want to), just post the name and if possible what kind of phone it is, maybe I can find it. (On my android phone you must have Rooted the device to access the alarm files.)

Don't use your favorite song. I did that once now I can't listen to it without getting dread

The solution for waking up is math.

Get an app that does not allow you to snooze or turn it off without solving math problems. Just 32 + 47 - 13 is enough to get you up. It is very frustrating though, standing there with mots of noise wanting to solve it fast.

I'm bad enough at math wide awake

You can control the difficulty 😉

I have mine set to the same sound as an incoming phone call, that way psychologically it's harder to ignore or dismiss.

Android lets your record your own alarm tones. I have a selection for different reasons to remind me WHY I'm getting up.

I also have one that's just me yelling to get up NOW.

Getting the gf to laugh at the alarm is a good way to get her up!

Always a good choice from Marc Rebillet!

Sound of glass breaking. Wakes me up in a hurry every time.

I've been using The Cursed Clock from Nine Inch Nails Ghosts: Locust album.

It starts out soft and low, but slowly builds.

I've been using this for years and it's about as perfect of an alarm as I've ever found.

The HEEEYYYEEEYYEEEYYEEAAA song with He Man has been a favorite of mine for a long time.

And when I was struggling the most with getting up, I made my alarm sound a screaming goat. It gets you up, but don't use it if you have heart problems or anything.

The intro to a lot of songs make good repeating alarms.

That Melechesh song is awesome. All of these are horrible alarms though. I hope everyone in this thread is joking. How do you wake up to these and not hate your life

sunsofold@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 33d

I mean... we do hate our lives. People who are actually content in their life are the minority.

I always thought the Rocky Theme or Alan Parsons Project Sirius would work great. But I've never really tried.

I use "Air Hockey Saloon" by Chris Zabriskie. Certainly more on the gentle side.

I'm awful at waking up, absolute dog shit.

I recently got a watch that monitors my heart rate and can also do alarms, it just vibrate, but the buttons are small and the screen is finicky so I have to really focus to press snooze or end. Then I have an alarm on my phone that starts vibrating a minute later and its been working great to wake me up.

Unfortunately I can't do any sort of sound because it'll wake up the whole house, then we're all having a bad morning.

red alert klaxons, or something else from a star trek sound bank like this

Not a song but consider waking up with a slowly brightening light, it’s impressively effective and I wake up a lot fresher myself. Tons of ways to do it from all in one alarm clocks to smart home devices. Just make sure turning away from the clock allows you any shade (I have ceiling lights do it instead of a weak nightstand deal)

I really like waking up to bird song.

One unexpected benefit is that i recognize it now as the signal to wake up, but it is usually subtle enough that it doesn't wake other people up in the same room, especially if i turn on rising volume.
