The baboon research he references seem to reinforce David Graeber and David Wengrow's arguments against humans having a natural inclination toward hierarchy and domination in their book The Dawn of Everything.
This is a video based community, and unfortunately Peertube is not yet used enough to completely replace YouTube.
In the meantime, there are ways to avoid YouTube's tracking, such as Freetube and Invidious instances.
Freetube videos cannot be linked to, it's up to each individual to use manually on their end. Invidious can be linked to, but unfortunately instances die so frequently, the links often become unusable after a couple months or more, and require the poster to search out new instances frequently (having to comb through my old posts to replace the links with working ones eventually turned me off using it, I'm afraid).

I use newpipe in mobile, you can just paste the YT url into the search bar and the vid comes up.
I didnt know this for months using newpipe until someone told me.
