I made an enquiry on Sunday about a car on Marketplace, I offered to send a deposit and pick it up at the weekend. ( Yeah I know, but I've done it before ) Well the reply was that somebody was going to look at it on Monday evening and it wouldn't last that ( the weekend ) long. I said well ok but I did offer to secure it and please let me know if the Monday thing fell through to which I got the reply "ok". Well it's still there for sale so yeah, well done.
Anyway it's not too cold this week in the mornings and that's been quite acceptable. Still, there's August still to come and those beloved Westerlies.
Yeah it’s growing. Ive been around the last few days but I’ve been hammered by Americans who don’t tolerate the mirror very well. I guess I bring it on myself, they’re hurting.
Melbourne seems to be the Aussie city that has the Fediverse people, their daily is brimming with comments every day.
I’ve noticed a few dealers flogging off cars they obviously can’t justify putting a bit of cash into to sell second hand and Pickles et al obviously give them bugger all for. These are good cars too, I saw a naturally aspirated Corolla Seca in Gladdy for $1k that only had 130000k or something like that on it, with the major problem seemingly just the peeled bonnet. The colour wasn’t great, metallic maroon, but every other box was ticked. Also saw a Rav 4 for just over 2k, some bargains getting around. You going back for a second look at or fuck em they should have taken the deposit?
Well I didn't even look mate. I was prepared to buy it sight unseen. That the other person doesn't seem to have bought it fur whatever reason might be a thing. But yeah big part of me is fuck em they should've taken the deposit.
I might stir him up a little. It's up Clayfield so a bit of a hike for me. Can't be fucked going too far these days. I'm weary from far too much driving in my past.
The name Clayfield brings back so many different memories for me.
Mum used to play tenpin bowling there, so I attended the kindergarten below it sometimes.
Then a mate had a unit on Sandgate Road, the base of many fond memories, then I had my own place near the railway line, not too far from Eagle Junction. I remember watching the Concorde take off from that bridge over the railway line walking to work.
Fond memories of a much more innocent time. Thanks for the memory jog
Yeah nah you hit the mark there, it made my day because it brought back some really fond memories and it is again now. They were good days and a lot of fun was had. That period was the grunge era and live music was really taking off in Brisbane, and we had some good bands dropping out.
It’s a time and a feeling we’ll never see again. A vibe gone forever.
Do you remember a band called Nexus Bloom? They played in Brisbane in the late 2000s and they really reminded me of the 90s grunge. Really sad they didnt "make it" cause that grungy feel they were busting out had me all nostalgic for better days. ex-UK, they had a go at getting signed and it didn't turn out so they went their different ways. RIP.
The name does ring a bell yes. Unfortunately I’d moved out of Brisbane by then and didn’t come back to live until around 2016.
There’s still some good acts getting around Brisbane for not much money and a very good time. If you see Fun With Explosives or eat city! mentioned anywhere, go see ‘em because they’re great. Mick Medew from Screaming Tribesmen is getting around the traps again with his band Mick Medew and Ursula 4. Chris Masuak is bringing his band Dog Soldier around for a tour soon as well.
Hmmmmm. I emmigrated in 94. Brisbane certainly was having a bit of a scene at that time and for a few years after. I didn't venture out too much but I did get to see a few bands and hit a few clubs. Heck I saw a few bands at Festival Hall even.
Yeah Festival Hall bring fond memories as well. Saw the two best shows I’ve ever seen in that venue, Faith No More Angel Dust and King For a Day tours. My dad took me to boxing at Festival Hall as a kid. At that time there was still the old bowler hat and fedora 50s style dudes getting around.
Again, something that can no longer be experienced. Like Cloudland. You should have seen the inside of it.
