FWIW, Doctor Oz is actually an accomplished surgeon. But it's like how I wouldn't trust my gastroenterologist to diagnose why my back hurts, y'know? No one should trust whatever bullshit he spews outside his narrow scope of highly specialized knowledge.
His medical accomplishments are greatly inflated. All of his publications he is one of 20 middle authors that had little to do with the project. Journals stopped allowing this, but it's very common for MDs to put their names on papers they had no reason to be on.
Oz tried to make "therapeutic touch" standard of care in his clinic.
Ben Carson was a brilliantly gifted neurosurgeon and a complete fucking idiot at the same time....
Just because someone has the word doctor in their name doesn't mean they know what the fuck they are talking about re: any other subject outside their field of expertise
I mean fair enough, but they don't take degrees away following a career change.
The point is not that he's not a real doctor, it's more that not all doctors are good people or deserving of trust just by title alone.
Someone who claims to be knowledgeable while speaking outside their area of expertise is more dangerous than a layman doing the same thing. They can abuse the credential to seem more like an authority figure than they are.
I'm trying something new idk. I make funny posts with hundreds to 1000+ up votes all the time. Then occasionally I make a ragebait post. The general idea on these is a bit different. I'm curious to see what the general lemmy population has to say about influential figures/platforms. Posting it here based on moderation 1, allows me to do it and 2, allows people to answer in whatever way they want (mostly). If they get 1000 votes down or up, who cares. I just wanna see what the general reaction is. I guess starting out with Joe Rogan and Reddit were probably a bit too incendiary. Based on votes though, lemmy hates Rogan more than Reddit, which is surprising.
Don't get me wrong, I expected hate for both. I just figured Reddit moreso. Based around the way people talk about it and the frequency its brought up.
I figured the hate for reddit would be larger than the hate for an individual, thats all. Strictly based on how often and how passionately I see people trash reddit here.
Ah, I misunderstood you then. I thought you mean the Reddit folks hating Joe Rogan less than the Lemmy folks hate Joe Organ.
Even so, Joe Rogan is a person they hate ideologically, while Reddit is a platform they liked, but got abused by people to the point of them not liking it.
Ahhh that clears up a lot. Still, I wouldn't be surprised. One is a person they hate ideologically, another is a platform they liked back in the day but just has gone into the wrong direction.
She had a show, not sure if it is still in production but never really watched it. Often she would give the audience something. A flex of her wealth which IMO is prideful and braggadocios.
I was a tax professional for HR block at one point. If the prizes were under 100 dollars value we are told to tell ppl that they don't have to report it. Yet, I believe the threshold is really ten dollars. Regardless, how will the IRS know?
Basically the unknowing propulsion system for Mingy and Gary from one of South Park's lowest ranking episodes. Personally ai don't hate it at all, but I do see why it's "the worst of a good thing" in many people's eyes

That’s an enabler of hucksters and frauds. “Doctor” Oz, “Doctor” Phil, Deepak Chopra, the list goes on. She’s a cancer on society.

Therapeutic touch was disproven by a 11 year old student at a US science fair.
In the end, Columbia medical staff signed the petition to cut him off from Columbia because of his historical quackery and medical misinformation.
TLDR he was a bad doctor.

I guess, but you'll likely find people downvote due to the style of content, rather then the contents of said post.
