Whoa whoa what the fuck? Since when does Interview With the Vampire have seasons?

Had to go look it up, surprised af.

Seasons 1 and 2 adapted Interview With the Vampire. They made Louis and Claudia Black, aged up Claudia (5 —> 14), and made Louis and Lestat gay. It’s actually pretty good despite its attempt to be more progressive than the 1994 film.

Season 3 covered The Vampire Lestat. The series is going through Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles. They change the name of the show with each rebrand though. It’s confusing and a little silly.

Claudia Black? Loved her on Farscape.

Something about that voice

I mean, Louis and Lestat were always gay, just not in a blatant way.

American Horror Story did something similar every season with an entirely new arc and story with a new title, but it at least kept the "American Horror Story" part in all the titles so it was at least easier to understand they're all the same show.

Yeah, so as a guy who runs a personal media server, I like how American Horror Story did it. I don't own that series, but if I did, I'd be able to name the seasons. So the first one was later named something like "Death House," but at first it was just AHS. And I think it was a play on the Amityville House movies? Second season was Asylum and beyond that... I dunno. I watched a couple, but not all of them. I think Hotel was the first one I missed, and I regret that. Maybe I'll go back sometime.

With the filenames it was always just "American Horror Story S0xEyz Episode Title", where x was the season number and yz was the episode number.

With Interview With the Vampire, The TVDB (Plex's metadata source) is still calling it all "Interview With the Vampire", so season 3 episodes are still "Interview With the Vampire S03E01 Whatever the Title Is.mkv". But on Plex, you go into Interview With the Vampire and you have "Interview With the Vampire", "Interview With the Vampire, Part II", and "The Vampire Lestat". And of course each season has a matching cover with the text in the same place. It's all really neat.

There are some anime series that do something similar.

Some people online debate what should be called what... but if it's on my media server, The TVDB has the last word, because otherwise, shit doesn't display correctly.

The TV show is solid stuff.

Is this a good time to get into the show? I absolutely love the movie (probably one of the gayest mainstream movies ever) and I've heard good things about the show.

Also The Queen of the Damned movie is rough. It has some interesting ideas though.

Well the TV show definitely goes gayer. I have only watched the first season but it was pretty good. Still meaning to pick it back up.

Pollo_Jack@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 35d

Literal whole new levels of gay in the show. Solid watch too.

I'm in the middle of Season 3 (The Vampire Lestat) and it's great. The style of S3 is way different than the first two because of the shift to Lestat as the main character. I personally think S3 is the best so far.

At least the first two seasons switch a lot between the past and the present (the interview). I find the interview sections incredibly boring and they always break my immersion.

yessikg@fedia.io · 1 pts · 34d

Yes, seasons 1 and 2 focus on Interview With the Vampire, personally season 2 is my favorite. Season 3 covers the next book: The Vampire Lestat, the tone is different but will all the same characters. It is a fantastic show

What year is it?

cupcakezealot@piefed.blahaj.zone · 3 pts · 35d

need a blood and gold/marius adaption

misk@piefed.social · 2 pts · 35d

My backlog never ends, I’m still a season behind. This show is such a pleasant surprise but don’t ever venture into other adaptations set in the same universe. Those are all around awful. Then again if you’re a middle aged woman drinking gin, without shoes, sitting on stairs… then maybe Mayfair Witches is for you.

I can't wait!
