love the sunny days, not a fan of the freezing nights, not much longer i suspect

It certainly has been rather chilly. The daytime temps are perfect though. I scored some (8) free fencing panels today so I'm glad it isn't the middle of summer. Taking them down and loading/unloading was hard enough without 33 degrees and 110% humidity.

Had to dig a hole to fill in for my heat pump install in january last year, i'll never forget, it took me like a 5 shovels and suddenly I'm sweating like niagara falls

Took a good while to warm up this morning too

I watched "Disclosure Day" to see what all the fuss ( negativity ) was about. I am a fan of Sci Fi and say conspiracy type things. ( In movies for the latter that is ) Well considering who it was attributed to and that it's decades of ideas I was hoping for something damn fine. It is not damn fine and I can see why it's not been well received. Hey it's entertainment and it isn't terrible. It just left me wanting I suppose.

This morning before I got into things I watched "Wild Robot". I don't watch too many animated movies ( even though they can be awesome ) and so it is nice that this one deserves all the praise that it gets. It's a very sweet movie.

Currently I'm chilling with a beer with the sun dropping behind the trees. Oh and I really need to remember to take my beers out of the freezer. Beer volcanos are no fun, beer slushies might be novel but getting it out of the can ( well the slushy part ) is difficult. I went and got another one while this one defrosts. Cheers.

So who else made the Tesseract shadow ban list?

trk@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 24d

I didn't look, but since I mostly only post here I suspect I'm in the clear.

Can you please tell me what this is all about as I have no idea ?

stylusmobilus@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 23d (1 reply)

There’s also replies or rationale for doing it by the dev but I’m having trouble finding those. That gets you started on it though.

Thanks for all of this. Mad world.

Okay, I might actually be better off linking the relevant posts made by those who know much more about the fediverse than I but here goes:

Tesseract is a user interface for Lemmy instances, and its developer built a block list of instances, key words and individual users within the UI and coded it in a way that it wasn’t noticed, I suppose is the best descriptor I can give.

It targeted instances and people its developer didn’t believe were in the best interests of the fediverse, and would in their mind prevent growth of the network, by pushing people away from it. In short, they took it upon themselves to build into their software something that’s broadly viewed as the responsibility of moderators within instances.

This has led to a significantly large amount of users and instances being shadowbanned and by extension a significant amount of conversation not seen by other users. Some of the instances which were using Tesseract, like blahaj for example, are quite large so that’s a lot of their users.

I’ll dig around and get better descriptors for it, but that’s the crux of it.
