It interested me for 5 seconds, you think I can afford not being able to find it again in 7 years??

Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io · 31 pts · 8d (2 replies)

What if the copy on my server IS the last copy!?!

Ariselas@piefed.ca · 6 pts · 8d

better print it off then, keep it safe in the filing cabinet of essays I'll read one day.

You forgot your friend Anna in the picture.

yakko@feddit.uk · 4 pts · 7d

I only download stuff from there that I'm highly motivated to read because I feel bad for wasting the bandwidth otherwise

JoMiran@lemmy.ml · 39 pts · 8d (3 replies)

People who archive do it to make sure things are not permanently lost to corporate greed.

SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 18 pts · 8d

Data hoarders are saving us all

AmyAye@nord.pub · 5 pts · 8d

Yep.

I download concert videos I like from Youtube, less because I want to watch them all the time, but because eventually, some corporation is going to swoop in and delete it all.

ricecake@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 7d

You think I'm archiving?

Friend, I'm wholly in this image, filled with shame, but honest enough to admit it.

The linked sites? Those aren't the subject of the meme, they're some of the suppliers for my uncontrolled addiction to reading the first paragraph of something, thinking I might want to reference it later and then hitting download and never, ever returning.

It does go in a folder which is never cleaned though, which remains entirely unorganized.

Save it before AI rewrites it

CubitOom@infosec.pub · 13 pts · 8d (4 replies)

Get the declassified military manuals before they are slopified

Catma@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 8d (1 reply)

Cant I just be in the War Thunder discord? Just wait a few days and you can probably download all of them in one go

CubitOom@infosec.pub · 7 pts · 8d

That's where you get the classified docs

IncogCyberSpaceUser@piefed.social · 2 pts · 7d (1 reply)

Which would recommend adding to my hoard?

CubitOom@infosec.pub · 3 pts · 7d

The following stand out to me

  • Ranger Handbook TC3-21.76
  • Special Reconnaissance and Advanced Small Unit Patrolling
  • operations in a low intensity conflict - FM 7-98
  • Doctrine for Special Forces Operations - FM 31 20
  • TM-21-210-Improvised-Munitions-Handbook
  • Fm 31 20 5 special reconnaissance tactics techniques procedures for special forces

More like the fascist state is going to purge the entire internet of everything except their shitty subscription based llms, so you won't be able to get any real information anymore. 10 years maybe? Internet will be dead.

MalReynolds@piefed.social · 7 pts · 8d

Read it all, no, won't live long enough. Grep (or full index) it all to find something obscure, priceless.

Bluewing@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 7d

Man, I got shop drawings of steam engines I know I will never build. The problem is I just like opening them up and looking at them. They are my precious.

Cris_Citrus@piefed.zip · 5 pts · 8d

The internet archive also has music, if thats more likely to be something you regularly go engage with :)

gaiussabinus@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 8d

Hey now, I have a huge number of books I have never read but I do need them sometimes, like what the reluctance of 336 stainless that some Dingdong wants to install on this 500kv transformer? That is a book publishled in 1993 that I have looked through once to find that exact thing. Don't want random pieces of hot metal attached to the equipment.

hardcoreufo@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 7d

Hey now my paperless-ngx is filled with documents I have definitely read... the title of.

CkrnkFrnchMn@lemmy.ca · 4 pts · 7d

cRazi_man@europe.pub · 4 pts · 8d (1 reply)

How's that Steam backlog looking? Buy much in the Steam sale?

TrickDacy@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 8d

Hah I do have a backlog for sure. I probably would've bought something this go round but I was out of town for most of that sale

My precious unread file library

MidsizedSedan@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 6d (1 reply)

Got a kobo because I can side load any epub I want.

213 files imported. 13 read.

Smokeless7048@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 6d

213, that's armature items

I'm at like 3000, any book I've ever read I backed up, any book I have any interest, all catagorized in calibre

danhab99@programming.dev · 3 pts · 7d

Make sure to seed them

Venator@lemmy.nz · 3 pts · 7d

Me too, you can't read it before you've downloaded it... Unless it's a physical copy...

Tattorack@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 7d

I downloaded PDFs of art books I use all the time.

May I introduce you to friendliness, warmth and sharing? 🐀

Grail@multiverse.soulism.net · 9 pts · 8d (7 replies)

Why does this feel like AI?

Edit: the mouse is too big to fit through the tunnels and there are 5 buttons instead of 4

PieMePlenty@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 7d (1 reply)

Cause it is generated. There are some mistakes in it, but I personally only notice them after a more in depth look. The biggest tell for me is the piss filter. A lot of these will be yellow toned for some reason. Also makes the image look more warm. Warm like piss.

Grail@multiverse.soulism.net · 1 pts · 7d

Oh yeah it's pissy! That's probably what I subconsciously noticed!

parrhesia@sh.itjust.works · -2 pts · 8d (4 replies)

I hate ai too but you might be missing the forest for the trees

helpImTrappedOnline@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 7d (3 replies)

Nah, the fake trees are getting better at blending into the forest.

This images has some tells that is was generated, it's possible some post clean up was done but when's the last time you've seen a mug with two handles? I'll admit those do exists, so it could be the artist's choice. On the painting on the book case, splitting the mouse's head in half is also certainly a choice....

Looking at the "game" it self, someone else mentioned the mouse doesn't fit in the tunnels. The gaps are inconsistent as well, some areas of the map are inaccessible, regardless of the characters Sir. The big cheeses are all different, and some of the cheese dots go over the green walls. Those aren't mistakes someone would make by hand, especially considering the amount of detail in the rest of the image. If it was a kid's doodle, I'd be a bit more forgiving.

AI is getting better, it's hard to tell what is and what isn't AI at a glance, especially when a human cleans up some of the obvious mistakes. These days you really have to scrutinize an image on the technical details/logic of it to decide.

boredsquirrel@slrpnk.net · 2 pts · 7d (1 reply)

Lol

Nobody got the reference

And yeah the images are mostly AI slop XD though not since all the time, they have banners since years

parrhesia@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 7d

I guess not. Well iykyk

parrhesia@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 7d

yes I agree its ai lol

SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 8 pts · 8d

Ai slop ruins everything
