Do your fans have little oil cups? When I was a kid, small fans often had little oil cups to directly lubricate those plain bearings regularly. So many 3-in-One oil cans.

I cannot say for 100% surety, but they are most probably either 303SS or 304SS, (SS = Super Shit). They are among the more corrosion resistant stainless' cheaply and easily available.
Remember that stainless steel is NOT completely Rosta Frei. It's merely stain - less. It can rust and stain, (the high temps in a fire doesn't help), it just takes longer than plain carbon steels. And washing machine tubs are probably going to be either 303 or more likely, 304 or similar more corrosion resistant alloys.
I've used Debian and I'm just not a fan. It's doubtful that will ever change.
To me it sounds like you just want to be right about what's "better". I never said I would run Ubuntu server forever. It's just where I started. It works and does all I need it to do right now. If I decide I need something different, I will find something different at that time. Until then, Ubuntu is working just fine.
But unless you understand the electrical components and the rules and codes in their use for consumer safety, maybe, just maybe, it should be a little bit difficult to gain access to if your 10 years old.
That's the thing about repairing things at home or anywhere else. You need tools to do so and more than just a screwdriver and a pair of pliers. You often special tools. You can get a set of triangle bits for maybe 4 to 5 euros and you will have them for life. So don't be a cheap. Either fix that kettle yourself, pay someone with the skills and tools to fix it, or buy a new one. But don't whinge about not having tools.
And let's also be honest. Some things need to be tamper proof. Most of you ain't smart enough and experienced enough to play with things that can injure/kill you or others, no matter how many youtube videos you watch.
