The hero the world needs. Not sure about the name, tho. Something about having "BB" on your superhero costume's chest just seems... Silly. Like you're advertising Best Buy or something...

an emblem very clearly based on the best buy logo would actually be kinda funny

Can’t catch a break ? Let me play my tiny violin for the multi million dollar company ..

I'm not worried for their products but the fact a billion dollar company has no leverage is not hopeful for the future of personal computing.

For real this part has blown my mind the most. I used to think if someone like Nintendo or Valve or something made demands that these companies would bend to try and make it work.

But according to valve they say a number and if Valve says no the company/supplier never talks to them again. Crazy.

It's not all suppliers, Qualcomm is less likely to play that game. Valve was referencing specifically dram and flash memory suppliers, who are a cartel already and are now also looking at surging demands so they can perform a direct market shakedown by figuring out which customers still need to pay that much and which have been priced out.

They will keep going until the amount they produce no longer has customers, but until then they have not found the highest price for their goods, and the line must go up.

Nibodhika@lemmy.world · 82 pts · 21d

Except this is bad for customers because the price will be higher and it's going to be the first actual competitor to the Oculus Quest, and it's an open system, so it's much better for consumers, but if the price increases even more than what they probably already had to make it increase due to RAM it's going to be hard to sell well enough to justify.

multi-billion. And really we are all the ones who suffer because these products support Linux and open source.

Steam is a cult.

What do you mean? You don't like free software?

belluck@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 1 pts · 14d

So I guess you’re fine with Meta having a monopoly on the VR market?

Armok_the_bunny@lemmy.world · 52 pts · 21d (1 reply)

What VR headset would you suggest someone get then? Anything by Meta is off the table for privacy reasons.

PSVR2 is nice and you can use it with PC but a frame will probably be better not going to lie.
