Food prices up 33% as Americans battle highest grocery price spike in 50 years — with no relief in sight

https://nypost.com/2026/07/28/us-news/food-prices-up-33-as-americans-contend-with-highest-grocery-price-spike-in-50-years/

“While inflation has cooled from its peak, grocery prices have not returned to where consumers remember them,” Martin told The Post.

“Food prices have effectively reset to a permanently higher level after years of supply chain disruptions, labor shortages, transportation costs, and broad inflationary pressures,” he added.

Meanwhile the minimum wage hasn't been raised in almost 20 years. There's nothing that leads to revolution faster than hunger:

Trump has catastrophically failed in delivering every single promise he made to the working class MAGA cunts who voted for him. However, these dumb bastards still vehemently and passionately support him, with some even outright lying to convince themselves Trump has made their lives better.

There is no greater evidence that Trump's supporters support him entirely for his racism, corruption, pedophilia and atrocities. Its the only thing he's delivered on, and they're head over heels for it.

He delivered 100% on being a Nazi, and that's the only one that really matters to them. They'll sacrifice themselves to hurt minorities. They've practically told us this and now they're proving it

They still support him, too, despite the broken promises, because he's a nazi. We're not talking about good people.

sunbrrnslapper@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 21d

💯 They only voted for Trump so they can be openly racist.

Conservatives value in-group solidarity more than almost anything else. Feels good in their brain.

You'd probably be an asshole too if you came a little every time you yielded to authority. That's how their brains work.

1 in 4 girls are sexually abused before age 18. 1 in 6 boys. That's a lot of pedophiles. The math adds up is all I'm saying. They love him because he's just like they are.

madcaesar@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 20d (1 reply)

Where are you getting these numbers from? That seems insanely high.

One thing is true, not every Republican is a pedophile, but every pedophile is a republican.

Seems my stat on boys has changed since I last look, 1 in 4 girls still though.

That's a weird typo

They said if I voted for Kamala the prices would be high and we'd be in more wars. Well, they were right!

Doesn't even provide health insurance as a right to its people

When you put the entire population of folks that used to work the fields and man the meat processing plants into concentration camps and then lose a war that spikes food transportation costs, why would you expect anything less?
What did Trump say recently about his feelings about families struggling with higher costs of living?

SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca · 11 pts · 21d (1 reply)

Don't forget tariffs on Canadian food and potash, which you don't apparently need.

ToiletFlushShowerScream@piefed.world · 9 pts · 21d

You're right, I can't believe I left out the huge effects of the tariffs by hissy fits.

The rich certainly are.

Took the NYPost a full two years to notice grocery store inflation again.

Malyca@lemmy.zip · 17 pts · 21d

Relief? Wait until the petrol shortage really hits prices.

If anyone ever thought he would help people in lowering their bills — you just bought another seat in his grifting class held at his defunct school.

Trump voters are if you took an imbecile, gave him brain damage and then replaced his brain with straw.

CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 19d

He's a con man and always has been.

But the conservatives just love to punch themselves square in the balls to own the libs, because they rely on the fact that everyone else will suffer, too, and they hope that libs suffer more.

When will Biden do something about it!?!?

If only those Republican voters who are not MAGA and don’t agree with Trump would vote for the Democratic candidate, but they won’t. The best they can do is not vote.

Then how is it that I was seeing headlines today about how inflation has softened, been "tamed", etc.? Is that just based on the Fed not raising rates (even though they probably should)?

"Every society is three meals away from chaos

-Vladimir Lenin"

The US starved for over a decade during the great depression. Even by WWII almost 40% of men were turned away from joining the army because of malnourishment so bad it had affected their development.

People really like to pretend revolution is just around the corner.
