Trump Crashes Into Reality. The president is learning that limits to his power—and, soon, his relevancy—do exist.

A second Trump presidency has hit the reality. America is under attack.
Fishnoodle@lemmy.world · 23 pts · 22d
I'd say we've been under constant attack since at last 2015. The war is coming to light
foggy@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 22d
I'd say since like 1970 but hey. With the exception of Carter.
tamal3@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 22d
1950 with the creation of the CIA
anomnom@sh.itjust.works · 10 pts · 22d
It’s been a cold civil war since the end of the hot civil war. Seriously, there have been a couple big lulls is all.
LincolnsDogFido@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 21d
1970's sounds right to me. Robert "Dipshit" Bork and his argument that antitrust protections hurt the consumer. Since that moment America has been nothing but cooperate paradise. Where mergers and acquisitions have done nothing but reduce innovation, price controls, and consumer protection laws.
If I were to contract rabies, he'd be on the bitin' list. It's a shame he already died.

The attack vector is Trump.

Let him watch while his name is torn off everything.

What you just wrote, I wrote similar on Reddit and got perma banned.
phutatorius@lemmy.zip · 6 pts · 22d
Reddit perma-bans are a badge of honor, as is having the sense to permanently leave Reddit.
hoppeduponcoffee@lemmy.zip · 4 pts · 21d
Fellow perma banned by the auto bot, for voicing an opinion that wasn’t even encouraging violence.
Reddit is an absolute shithole of karma bots with CCP and Kremlin infiltration. It quickly crashed and burned when they took away the third-party admin tools.
blackberry28@sh.itjust.works · 0 pts · 21d
Lemmy ain't much better when it comes to banning. Mods here like to arbitrarily ban people, too. Without any warning whatsoever. Freedom of speech doesn't exist here as well.
monkeyslikebananas2@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 21d
I didn’t get perma banned but they deleted my comment… smh at these cowards. I didn’t even say how I really feel.
anon_8675309@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 21d
That’s nuts. I should have quoted it.
Snowies@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 21d
What did you originally say? (You can DM me I guess)
hume_lemmy@lemmy.ca · 5 pts · 21d
Don't forget about the part where his kids show up for photo ops as "supporting their father" but never say a word to him, treat him as a prop and fuck off before the dazzle from the flash goes away. You know it's that kind of family.
hoppeduponcoffee@lemmy.zip · 4 pts · 21d
I wouldn’t doubt they all absolutely despise him and will rejoice when he dies. Living with a raging narcissist is a nigbtmare.
captainlezbian@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 21d
Idk, they seem to be somewhat under his spell. At the very least they'll be like vultures at his legacy. He was probably a nightmare for them, but plenty of children of narcissists idolize the narcissistic parent

Trump will live the same kind of life Kissinger did, because that's the kind of world we live in

Aw cmon. A half Elvis isn't as poetic as a full Elvis. Sure it's worse for them, but think of the memes
MagicShel@lemmy.zip · 4 pts · 22d
Oh, there will be memes. We're gonna meme so much, you may even get tired of memeing. And you'll say, please, please, it's too much memeing. We can't take it anymore. Mr. President, it's too much, and I will say no it isn't, we have to keep memeing, we have to meme more, we're gonna meme more.

The would-be king died on a gold-plated throne. That'd be OK, though not as fitting as some other ways I've seen discussed online.

Turning on reader mode in IronFox gets around it

Same in ice raven, does this always work? Thats cool, thanks for the tip!
RadicalRebel@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 22d
Of course! It unfortunately doesn't work with bigger sites like WSJ or 404, but I always try as it works for a decent number of paywalls.

I tried reader mode in Firefox, and don't see the text starting with this paragraph....

Fucker not going leave the office just because his term is up. We are either going have him drag from the white house or Congress going let him pull his coup and he gets his third term. Anyone who thinks he just going not become a dictator is not paying attention.
My only hope is he dies in the next two years and we don't have to find out what him turning us into a true dictatorship looks like. Maybe Vance will have him off or something.
But if Trump still breathing and still has two brain cells to rumb together he isn't leaving quietly. And 100% doubt any of the current GOP is willing to go against him. Why he is putting in yes men in all the most top positions in the military that will fall on the sword for him. And why most of any of the old guard Republicans are retiring or being replaced with Maga.
Hang on folks because mid terms are going be hell with ICE and Trump announcing military emergency and sending in the Troops. And if the AI bubble doesn't pop in next two years Trump going make our life so goddamn miserable we will either have to revolt or die I don't know. But lets hope for a stroke before the midterms and Democrats taking back enough control to do goddamn something other then point fingers and write strongly worded bullshit letters.
CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 21d
I'm not sure which is going to be worse - the AI bubble not popping, or the AI bubble popping.
I say that as someone who watched the dot-com bubble with a lot of apprehension from within IT. I was not even tied to dot-com work, but the job market sucked balls when everything melted down.
I'm sure a lot of people imagine it will be the obnoxious techbro C-suite types that will be made to suffer and have to get real jobs and actually work a day in their lives when it implodes.
I have no such illusions.

Trump isn't even potty-trained. He won't learn a thing.
HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 22d
I had a neighbor that, well I was the age where you made friends by geography, not interest. This shit was telling us how his dad told him he didn't have to learn anything, he was already so smart. He was 4.
Almacca@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 22d
You were neighbours with Trump when he was 4?
