Sauerkraut/kimchee is a weird cheat code that doctors don't really understand...
Like, it's basically "free" salt. Germans and Koreans both consume way too much salt and should have a bunch of heart issues due to it as populations...
But they don't.
It's nothing genetic, nothing lifestyle related, it's just that most of their salt is on a bunch of cabbage and for some reason that makes it ok.
Probably better off just eating cabbage or any leafy vegetable though, it's weird how much people oppose salads yet claim they can't lose weight.
But sauerkraut/kimchee is way more palatable and apparently the salt doesn't matter.

Where do people get their science. Salt is why we have kidneys.
Only people with certain types of hypertension have to avoid sodium in the diet.
Heart problems in Germany are due to obesity.
Because you got a little defensive when I mentioned that the people listening to him are Americans.
And there ARE many, many Americans who listen to him. Maybe not the absolute majority, but we wouldn't be here in this situation if a sizable part of the US population wasn't the type of person to fall for this kinda guy.
I didn't get defensive. I was suggesting that saying "Americans listen to him" is a pointless generalization. Okay, so Americans are the ones who pay the most attention to someone who is a government official in America. Okay. Plenty of uninformed, non-scientific people elsewhere too. So I don't know what your point about that was.
RFK's ideas are not very novel and there are many people who champion those lines of thoughts besides him. He is not influential.

I love sauerkraut. I'd rather get kicked in the balls than hear his voice.

Salt really doesn't matter if you're both properly hydrated, and get significant amounts of potassium. Bonus if you sweat frequently from exercise
I make my own sauerkraut and it's about 1 tblsp per lb of cabbage. Which honestly isn't too bad compared to other UPFs

Who the fuck would look or listen to this shuffling zombie of a person and think he knows anything about how to be healthy?

Americans

Well, as an American, I don't. And I feel like there are stupid and deluded people in other countries as well
RaphaelSchmitz@feddit.org · 1 pts · 9d
Sure, but why would those be listening to the American health guy.
It might hurt to hear, but pretty much everything about the guy is deeply US American. Even the way he got there.
zeppo@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 9d
Ok... why do you think that would "hurt" me? I'm not aware the US kinda sucks.
I don't think anyone is really listening to him, smart or not.

I don't know how we got to you defending him now, but I think that's a sign that we jumped the shark with this conversation.

Glad he has time for a cooking show now since there aren't any serious health crises currently happening anywhere the United States. /s

@databender His first recipe:
Sauerkraut and and dead racoon penises on rye!

He's against carbs and grains though; I'm envisioning some sort of worm-racoon penis kabob, maybe sauerkraut on the side?

He’s got so much time… not much to do when you stop you know providing life saving health data to other countries. Recipes should be good, though.
You do you, Jr. You are good at looking in the mirror.
